The circular seal of the Nilamber-Pitamber University (NPU) has a blue border which carries the name of the university in Devanagari and its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘Lead me from Darkness to Light’ is written. This ensconces a black torch with brown flame, an open book and supported by three pairs of green leaves with stems. The torch with flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; the open book symbolises knowledge, learning, education and wisdom and the green plants denote agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.

No. 15 Squadron NO 15 SQUADRON The No. 15 Squadron of Indian Air Force was formed on August 2, 1951 at Ambala. In 1983, the ‘Flying Lances’ were the first MiG-21 Bis squadron in the Air Force to be modified for the Matra Magic R55, air to air missiles. The squadron was again number plated in 2009 and re-raised in 2012 on the Su-30 at Sirsa AFS. The No. 15 Squadron’s motto is ‘Nihantavya Shatava’ meaning ‘Annihilate the Enemy’. This Squadron is also called ‘Flying Lances’. Its insignia has a flying lancer in the centre with a ball of fire background. It currently operates the Mikoyan MiG-21 from Jodhpur.
