The insignia of Murshidabad University is predominantly in bright deep teal tones. It has a picture of the university with its year of establishment is placed in a circle. It is surrounded by a circular border bearing its name in English and Bengali has a cyan border with triangular edges. Below the seal, on  blue banner, its motto in Bengali ‘সা বিদ্যা যা বিমুক্তয়ে’ (Rishi Parāśara, 1,19.41, Viṣṇu Purāṇa) meaning ‘Knowledge  is One that Liberates’ is inscribed. The colour deep teal blue symbolises higher consciousness, tranquillity, healing and new beginnings.
