DR. SHAKUNTALA MISRA NATIONAL REHABILITATION UNIVERSITY |
The emblem used by the Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMRU) is the same as the emblem of the State of Uttar Pradesh. The state emblem dates from the time of the United Provinces. It represents the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati by wavy flowing waters between a pair of fish which is a Buddhist symbol signifying freedom from restraint and the life-giving properties of water and the two rivers. Between the arms of the pall there is a bow and arrow, the arms of the heroes of the Mahabharata. The emblem is similar to the ancient emblem of the last Nawabs of Awadh where fish occur in their motifs.
