Sikkim Alpine University’s (SAU) insignia is a shield holding an interesting monogram of its acronym ‘SAU’, with the counter of the ‘S’ holding a red dot denoting a human. This is created with a dark blue and orange colour. Its motto in Sanskrit ‘विवेकख्यातिरविप्लवा हानोपायः’ (2.26, Patanjali Yog Sutra) meaning ‘Clear and Distinct Discriminative Knowledge is the Means of Destruction of Ignorance’ is inscribed below the shield. The shield symbolises protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the human symbolises its beneficiaries and stakeholders, the dark blue colour symbolises knowledge, authority, and reliability, power, mystery and responsibility and the orange colour denotes energy, vitality, creativity, inspiration, joy and happiness.
