The emblem of Jodhpur National University (JNU) has a glowing sun placed on a reddish brown circle houses a 12 petalled lotus, in which a traditional lamp supported by an open book is placed. The circle in between the lotus and the sun, the name of the university is written in Devanagari and English. The sun symbolises life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the lotus symbolises purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the traditional lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the book symbolises learning, education, knowledge and wisdom; the colour orange symbolises energy, vitality, creativity, inspiration, joy and happiness and reddish brown symbolises strength, dependability and warmth.

The central motifs of the winged Staff of Caduceus entwined by a pair of serpents crested with a flaming torch, supported by an open book and a pair of laurels replace the Lion Capital; and the name, place and motto of the college replace the name of the State. The motto of the college in Sanskrit is ‘विद्यया विन्दते अमृतम्’ (Mantra 2.4, Kenopanishad), which translates to ‘Immortality Through Knowledge’. The Staff of Caduceus symbolises medicine and medical profession; the book symbolises the accumulation and dissemination of medical knowledge and the academic foundation of the institution; the torch with flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; and the laurels are symbols, which represent victory, honour and academic excellence.

The motifs of a draftsman's T-square and a winged arrow in the seal refer to structural design, craftsmanship and vocational specialisation; and symbolises progression, upward mobility and the ambition of women breaking barriers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. An orbital pattern is placed at the centre on a red traditional lamp. These are circumscribed by the name and place of the college. A black circle ensconces all the elements.
