HARCOURT BUTLER TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY The emblem of Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU) is a shield with motifs of electrical engineering, a factory with chimneys and an open book supported by its motto in Sanskrit 'श्रम एव परं तपः' meaning 'Labour is the Ultimate Penance' and surmounted with its name and place in Devanagari and its acronym and place in English. The open book symbolises learning, knowledge, education and wisdom and the shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery.
