RAJENDRA UNIVERSITY

RAJENDRA UNIVERSITY Rajendra University, Balangir, recognized by UGC as a State Public University, owes its origin to an Intermediate college setup in Balangir in 1944 by Maharaja Rajendra Narayan Sighdeo, the then ruler of the erstwhile Patna State and one of the former Chief Ministers of Odisha. This college was subsequently upgraded to a Degree college in 1946. It was granted autonomy with effect from April 1, 2002. It has been upgraded to a university with effect from September 1, 2020. The emblem of the university represents its spirit of modernity. It contains the name of the university and the year of its establishment along with three distinct symbols: the book representing the Faculty of Arts, the ship symbolising the School of Business and Commerce, and the scientific apparatus standing for the Department of Physical and Biological sciences. SOUTH DELHI MUNICIPAL CORPORATION Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the second largest civic body was trifurcated in 2012 into South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), North Delhi Municipal Corporation(NDMC) and East Delhi Municipal Corporation(EDMC). SDMC is serving the population of almost 56 lakhs citizens with a responsibility of monitoring, upgrading and developing civic amenities efficiently with a view to create a better tomorrow for citizens of Delhi. It occupies an area of 656.91 square kilometres. Its insignia in the form of a shield in green, red and blue has been divided into three parts. The top two parts show Red Fort and a monument. The dividing line is adorned by Qutub Minar. The third part has an opened book, below which a drain is shown. It is surrounded by a circular border, on which the name of the corporation is written in Hindi and English. This is supported by a pedestal. A banner at the bottom has its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’

EAST DELHI MUNICIPAL CORPORATION

EAST DELHI MUNICIPAL CORPORATION East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) was one of the municipal corporations in Delhi, India created after the former Municipal Corporation of Delhi was trifurcated in 2012. It occupied an area of 140 km2 (54 sq mi) which was further divided into two zones (Shahdara North and Shahdara East zone) and 64 Wards, serving the population of almost 18 lakhs citizens in Delhi. Its insignia in the form of a shield in green, red and blue has been divided into three parts. The top two parts show Red Fort and a monument. The dividing line is adorned by Qutub Minar. NORTH DELHI MUNICIPAL CORPORATION Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the second largest civic body was trifurcated in 2012 into North DMC, South DMC and East DMC. North DMC is serving the population of almost 62 lakh citizens with a responsibility of monitoring, upgrading and developing civic amenities efficiently with a view to create a better tomorrow for citizens of Delhi. It occupies an area of 605 square kilometre, which is about 43% of total Delhi area. A road length of 10153 Km. (in 12 feet width) is under the jurisdiction of North DMC. Its insignia in the form of a shield in green, red and blue has been divided into three parts. The top two parts show public waste and a monument. The third part has an opened book, below which a drain is shown. It is surrounded by a circular border, on which the name of the corporation is written in Hindi and English. NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY CALICUT

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY CALICUT Set in a picturesque landscape at the foothills of the Western Ghats, National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) is located about 22 kilometres north-east of Calicut City. NITC is a Technical Institution of national importance set up by an Act of parliament (Act 29 of 2007). NITC’s emblem has a sixteen toothed gear wheel in which a traditional lamp from Kerala is placed around which three orbital lines of particles are drawn. The name and place of the institute is written on the border of the gear wheel. At the bottom, on a banner its motto ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ is written in Sanskrit meaning ‘From Darkness to Light’.

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY KANPUR

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY KANPUR Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, established in 1959, is one of the premier institutions established by the Government of India. THe motto of the institute is ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ meaning ‘Lead Me from Darkness to Light’. The circular emblem of the institute has a trishul (trident) with an eye on each of its three points, symbolising the third eye of wisdom and vision the institute imparts to its students. This is circumscribed by a gear and on the border the name of the institution is written in Devanagari and English.

TRAINING COMMAND Prior to 1939, there was hardly any training carried out in India either of pilots or ground engineers, there was no organisation at Air HQ level for this purpose. However, when it became impossible to send Indians to the UK for training due to war, it was decided to create training facilities in the country itself. To cater to the expansion of the IAF, a target of 300 pilots and 3000 technical personnel was fixed. To cope with such a large training commitment, a Directorate of Training was formed in Air HQ. A Recruits Training Centre (for discipline, drill, etc.) and a non-technical training centre was formed at Lahore. No.1 Technical School at Ambala provided technical training. These training centres provided intensive training courses, designed to make the trainees fit to shoulder responsibilities as soon as they were posted to the Units after passing out. This system continued till 1947. Independence of India and formation of Pakistan, led t
