MORMUGAO PORT AUTHORITY The emblem of Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) has the motifs of an anchor, a lighthouse, a ship and a pair of arrows depicting repetition placed on an elliptical globe of the world. Below the ship, its acronym is written in bold red typeface and its name written in Devanagari below that. The motifs refer to port, shipping, loading and unloading and servicing the globe. The colour blue symbolises serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty; the colour red symbolises passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration and the colour cyan denotes sky, hope and spring, peace, tranquillity, calmness, relaxation and emotional balance.

I NDIAN PORTS ASSOCIATION The cyan colour circular emblem of Indian Ports Association (IPA) has a ship anchored in the port with cranes around it as motifs are placed inside a circle This is circumscribed by a border with outlines on which its name is inscribed and an anchor is placed in a circle with a pair of outlines. The cyan colour symbolises sky, hope and spring, peace, tranquillity, calmness, relaxation and emotional balance.

CHENNAI PORT AUTHORITY

CHENNAI PORT AUTHORITY  The emblem of Chennai Port Authority (CPA) has a brown anchor placed in a blue circle. This is ensconced by a border with a blue outline on which its name is written. The border is circumscribed by a rope, which is commonly used in ships. The colour brown symbolises earthiness, simplicity, stability, humility, warmth, reliability, endurance, timelessness and tradition and the colour blue denotes water and symbolises serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.

KERALA MARITIME BOARD

KERALA MARITIME BOARD The emblem of Kerala Maritime Board (KMB) has a red helm or sailor’s wheel ensconced by a sailor’s rope in blue colour housing a brown circle which bears its name in English and Malayalam. Inside the circle are the motifs of a ship, a map of the State of Kerala, an anchor and its acronym KMB. The whole pictorial sails on waves of water. The emblem is interesting, attractive and detailed.

DAMAN DIU AND DADRA NAGAR HAVELI TOURISM

DAMAN DIU AND DADRA NAGAR HAVELI TOURISM The light blue emblem of Daman Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli Tourism (DDDNHP) is a panel with a border made up by the motifs of the traditional mask, a pair of local flowers, vegetables, fish, deer, snails, swans, anchors lions and cannons and flowing waters and a church. The panel holds the name of the tourism establishment and at the bottom its tagline ‘Small is Big’ is written. The motifs which form the shape and border represent what is available in the State’s geography and a tourist attraction. The emblem is innovative, representative and attractive. The colour light blue represents the blue waters and tranquillity, peace, health, healing, acceptance, truth, serenity, trustworthiness, reliability, wisdom, creativity, spirituality and softness.

MILAN 2024

MILAN 2024 The circular seal for the Milan 2024, the multinational naval exercise organised by Indian Navy, has a globe with Ashoka Chakra placed above the map of India, a lighthouse with beacon, a warship with guns and wavy waters of the sea written with ‘Visakhapatnam, India’. These are ensconced by a circular tricolour border referring to India and a blue border, which carries the name of the event, its tagline ‘Camaraderie Cohesion Collaboration’ and a pair of anchors. The emblems circumscribed a rope similar to the one used in seafaring and ships. The globe denotes the reach and scope of the exercises; the naval ship refers to the navies of the participating countries; the blue waters refer to the seas and oceans; the beacon denotes the guiding light and the anchors refer to the navies. 

GUJARAT MARITIME UNIVERSITY

GUJARAT MARITIME UNIVERSITY The blue and grey emblem of Gujarat Maritime University (GMU) has its acronym ‘GMU’ written using Copperplate Gothic with the diagonal strokes of ‘M’ treated as an anchor, which is synonymous with maritime culture. The name of the university is written below the monogram. Its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा  ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead me to Light’ is inscribed. The colour blue is the symbol of sea, ocean, vastness, serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.

ACADEMY OF MARITIME EDUCATION AND TRAINING

ACADEMY OF MARITIME EDUCATION AND TRAINING Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET) is India's first ‘Deemed to be University’ in its domain of education. The emblem of the university in blue and red has an anchor supported by splashes of water to depict a ship. This is housed in a ship's helm with eight handles. These are ensconced by a red border on which the name of the university is written supported by six stars and at the bottom it has the acronym of the name. Below this ‘Deemed University’ is written and at the bottom on a blue banner its motto ‘Steering Quality Education’ is written. The anchor, helm and water are the most representative of any maritime activity as shown in this emblem. The stars denote perfection, humanity, magic and peace. NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY

NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY   Since its inception sixtythree years ago, National Defence Academy (NDA)  has steadily grown both in stature and élan. The present Academy insignia was selected in 1948. The background is maroon, which is not only an appropriate colour of heraldry but also a symbol of chivalry and sacrifice. The crest is composed of the symbols of the three services superimposed on each other and mounted on top by the Ashoka Capitol . The anchor  supports the sword  and both support the eagle . In this combined form they are no longer four separate entities but fused into one organic whole, communicating visually a new identity, a brotherhood of the armed forces of India, imbued with unquestioned valour (the swords), an unruffled stability and poise (the anchor) which no storms can disturb and fervent zeal always to reach for the sky (the eagle) and the pride of being in the service of the motherland (the Ashoka Capital).  The scroll or motto is fashion

NAVAL ENSIGN

NAVAL ENSIGN On India attaining Independence, the Royal Indian Navy consisted of 32 ageing vessels suitable only for coastal patrol, along with 11,000 officers and men. The prefix was dropped on January 26, 1950 with India being constituted as aRepublic. On September 2, 2022 Indian Navy adopted an Indian ensign (Niishaan). This was unveiled by the Prime Minister at the commissioning ceremony of thefirst indigenously built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant at Cochin Shipyard Limted and dedicated it to Chhatrapati Shivaji. Resonant to the ongoing nationalendeavour to move away from colonial past, need was felt to transition to a new design that drew inspiration from our history. The White Ensign identified nationwide with the Navy, now comprises of two main constituents - the National Flag in the upper left canton, and a Navy Blue - Gold octagon at the centre of the fly side (away from the staff).
