INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE The Indian Super League (ISL) is India’s unrivalled football championship which kicked off on October 12, 2014. The inaugural winners of the league were ATK FC, while Chennaiyin FC were the winners of the second season. A Printing Technology Section was started in the Madras Trades School, a Government Institution conducting certificate courses in a few industrial trades. With the opening of the printing section, a part-time certificate course of four year duration in printing technology was introduced. This was the first ever organised and approved training course in printing technology in India. NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNICAL TEACHERS TRAINING AND RESEARCH, CHENNAI National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) Chennai was established as an autonomous institute by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India in the year 1964 to improve the quality of technical education system in India and in the southern region in particular. Within this mandate, the institute takes initiatives to offer need based human resource development programmes through appropriate modes and develop curricula and instructional resources. Its emblem has an indigo coloured shield with three lamps supported by three white lines. Below this a rocket, a teacher with ‘TECHNICAL TEACHER TRAINING’ written on a board and computer with antenna receiver are placed. On the right corner of the shield its acronym ‘NITTTR Chennai’ is written. Below the shield on a brown banner ‘PROMOTING EXCELLENCE IN TECHNICAL EDUCATION’ is written in white.

LALIT KALA AKADEMI

LALIT KALA AKADEMI To promote and propagate understanding of Indian art, both within and outside the country, the Government of India established Lalit Kala Akademi (National Akademi of Arts) at New Delhi in 1954. The Akademi has regional centres called Rashtriya Lalit Kala Kendras at Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai, Garhi in New Delhi and Bhubaneswar with workshop facilities in painting, sculpture, print-making and ceramics. It has sub centres in Shimla, Ahmedabad, Agartala and Patna. Since its inception, the Akademi has been organising national exhibition of contemporary Indian art with 15 national awards,. Every three years, the Akademi also organises Triennial India, an international exhibition of contemporary art in New Delhi. CHENNAI METRO RAIL PROJECT

CHENNAI METRO RAIL PROJECT The Government of Tamil Nadu created a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for implementing the Chennai Metro Rail Project. This SPV named as Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) was incorporated on December 3, 2007 under the Companies Act. It has now been converted into a Joint Venture of Government of India and Government of Tamil Nadu with equal equity holding. Its ultramarine blue emblem made up of geometrical shapes has a pair of circular lines representing ‘C’s, embellished with a stylised ‘M’. The parallel blue strokes represent tracks and the two vortexes represent elevation and the trough represents underground routes.

GREATER CHENNAI CORPORATION The Greater Chennai Corporation (previously Madras) (GCC)is the Oldest Municipal Institution in India established on the September 29, 1688. A charter was issued on the December 30, 1607 by East India Company constituting the ‘Town of Fort St. George’ and all the territories thereunto belonging, not exceeding the distance of ten miles from the Fort, into a Corporation. The Parliamentary Act of 1792 gave the Corporation power to levy Municipal Taxes in the City. The Municipal administration properly commenced from the Parliamentary Act, 1792 making provision for the good order and administration of the city. The Municipal Act has been amended introducing from time to time major changes in the constitution and powers of the Corporation. The Madras Municipal Corporation Act, 1919 (as amended) provides the basic Statutory authority for the administration now.
