CMJ UNIVERSITY The CMJ Group headed by Mr. C.M. Jha decided to set up one of the first private universities in Meghalaya. The CMJ University (CMJU) came into being in 2009 by an Act of Meghalaya State Legislature under the CMJ University Act 4 of 2009. The university is situated on a 40 acre campus on a hillock in Jorabat on picturesque hills. The emblem of the university is green colour shield on which an interesting symmetrical designs have been drawn and on the top ‘AIM’ is written and in the middle ‘ऐं’ is written. The shield symbolises protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the ‘AIM’ and ‘ऐं, denotes ambition, motto and target; the colour green denotes agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.

NO. 2 SQUADRON Though the Indian Air Force was born with the raising of No.1 Squadron in 1933, it was to take another eight years before the second squadron could be raised. The outbreak of the second world war and the rapid influx of trained pilots and personnel saw to the availability of enough aircrew to equip a second squadron. Accordingly on April 1, 1941, No.2 Squadron, IAF was raised at Peshawar under the command of Flt Lt AB Awan. Its insignia has a winged arrow in the centre of a circle which is topped by India’s national emblem and golden border at the bottom with its motto ‘Amogh lakshya’ meaning ‘True to Aim’ inscribed on it. This squadron is nicknamed as ‘Winged Arrows’.
