SRI DEV SUMAN UTTARAKHAND UNIVERSITY Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University (SDSUU)is established as a State University of Uttarakhand vide State Government notification No 270/XXXVI(3)/2012/48(1)/2012 on October 19, 2012 in continuation to amendment of erstwhile Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Uttarakhand Vishwavidhyalaya Act 2011 (Uttarakhand Act No 22 of 2011) as notified by State Government vide No 357/XXXVI(3)/201 1/57(1)/2010 on November 4, 2011. The emblem of the university has the motifs of Himalayas, its valleys and ridges, a flowing river, green plains  and a light yellow coloured forest flower. The mountain peak is crested by laurels supporting an open book. All these are ensconced by a yellow coloured circular border which bears the name of the university in Devanagari and English. EMBLEM OF UTTARAKHAND Uttarakhand is formerly known as Uttaranchal and is a State in the northern part of India. It is referred to as the Land of Gods since Hinduism’s many holy temples and cities found here. Known for its natural beauty and wealth of the Himalayas, the Bhabhar and the Terai, the State was carved out of the Himalayan and adjoining north-western districts of Uttar Pradesh on November 9, 2000, becoming the twenty seventh state of the Republic of India. It borders the Tibet Autonomous Region on the north, Nepal on the east and the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh to the south and Himachal Pradesh to the north west. In January 2007, the name of the state was officially changed from Uttaranchal to Uttarakhand. The provisional capital of Uttarakhand is Dehradun. The emblem of Uttarakhand shows a mountain ridge with a valley in base. In chief is the emblem of India and the blue wavy lines depicts its rivers.
