SRI VENKATESWARA UNIVERSITY Sri Venkateswara University was established in 1954, in Tirupati to cater to the educational needs and aspirations of people of the Rayalaseema Region of Andhra Pradesh and has completed sixty eight years of service. It offers postgraduate programmes in arts, sciences, law, management , education, physical education, engineering and pharmacy disciplines. It started with one college with six departments and now the university has now grown into the second largest university in Andhra Pradesh having five constituent colleges with fifty two departments offering eighty eight programmes ( SVU ). The emblem of the university has a shield with an image of Seven Hills representing the seven hills of Tirumala; a white lotus signifying purity and enlightenment; a pair of seahorses symbolises generosity, friendliness, positivity, anchorage, contentment, patience and persistence and crested by the Sudarshan Chakra symbolising the disc of Lord Maha Vishn
