SHER-E-KASHMIR UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY OF JAMMU
SHER-E-KASHMIR UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY OF JAMMU Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST) came into existence on September 20, 1999 following the amendment in Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Act 1982. The emblem of the university has a tree, heads of wheat plant with awns, three leaves, cattle ploughing the field with a background of a mountain and river with rising sun in yellow colour ensconced by a part of a gear wheel. The gear wheel bears the motto of the university from Rig Veda (34-13) in Sanskrit ‘कृषिमित् कृषस्व वित्ते रमस्व’ and Kashmiri meaning ‘Work like a Farmer and Benefit from Earnings’. The name of the university is written around the emblem. The motifs in front of the mountain and the mountain represent the geography of the locale and the domain of engagement of the university.
