ALAGAPPA UNIVERSITY Alagappa University is located at Karaikudi in Tamil Nadu. It was founded by the great philanthropist and educationist Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar during the 1950s. Alagappa University came into existence by a Special Act of the Government of Tamil Nadu in May 1985 and is recognized by the University Grants Commission of India. The emblem of the university has a blue shield holding a lotus and a traditional lamp in a red circular background, supported by yellow ornamental decoration. The name of the university is written in Tamil and English above the shield. Below the shield on a blue banner, its motto in Tamil ‘செயலில் செம்மை’ meaning ‘Excellence in Action’ is written. INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT KOZHIKODE

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT KOZHIKODE The institute was set up in 1996 by the Government of India in collaboration with the State Government of Kerala. With its roots dating back to 1997, the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, started with a batch of 42 students but has grown tremendously over the years with a current batch strength of 356 odd students, making it the fastest growing management school in the country. Its circular emblem in the form of a gear wheel has a bow and arrow in the top half - symbolising aiming high and reaching the target through effort; a water body with a boat and a few coconut trees - symbolising Kerala and an open book - symbolising knowledge and wisdom, in the bottom half the name of the institute is written around the gear wheel. The motto of the institute ‘योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्’ meaning (Verse 50, Chapter 2, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Yoga is Skill in Action’.

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY KHARAGPUR

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY KHARAGPUR With the recommendations of the Sarkar committee in view, the first Indian Institute of Technology was born in May 1950 in Hijli, Kharagpur, in the eastern part of India. Initially the IIT started functioning from 5, Esplanade East, Calcutta and very soon shifted to Hijli in September 1950. The present name 'Indian Institute of Technology' was adopted before the formal inauguration of the Institute on August 18, 1951. IIT Kharagpur started its journey in the old Hijli Detention Camp where some of our great freedom fighters toiled and sacrificed their lives for the independence of our country. Its emblem in blue colour has a tree rooted to a book, where the year of its foundation is written, referring to growth through knowledge. Its name in Devanagari is written around the tree. It is ensconced by a segment of gear which bears the name of the institution in English. Below these on a trapezoidal panel its motto ‘योगः

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNICAL TEACHERS TRAINING AND RESEARCH, CHENNAI

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNICAL TEACHERS TRAINING AND RESEARCH, CHENNAI National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) Chennai was established as an autonomous institute by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India in the year 1964 to improve the quality of technical education system in India and in the southern region in particular. Within this mandate, the institute takes initiatives to offer need based human resource development programmes through appropriate modes and develop curricula and instructional resources. Its emblem has an indigo coloured shield with three lamps supported by three white lines. Below this a rocket, a teacher with ‘TECHNICAL TEACHER TRAINING’ written on a board and computer with antenna receiver are placed. On the right corner of the shield its acronym ‘NITTTR Chennai’ is written. Below the shield on a brown banner ‘PROMOTING EXCELLENCE IN TECHNICAL EDUCATION’ is written in white.

COLLEGE OF DEFENCE MANAGEMENT

COLLEGE OF DEFENCE MANAGEMENT College of Defence Management (CDM)  is a premier tri-service institution imparting management training to officers of the Defence Services. The CDM is entrusted with the responsibility of instilling contemporary management thoughts, concepts and practices in the senior leadership of the three Services. The need to set up a college specializing in imparting scientific management training was felt sometime after the Indo-Pak war of 1965. The complexities of modern combat, the high lethality and velocity of battle, large size of the Indian Armed Forces, their deployment in far flung areas, high cost of equipment, limited resources, socio-economic changes; all necessitated military commanders to be exposed to modern management concepts and techniques to enable them to operate in an effective and optimal manner.
