UTTARAKHAND OPEN UNIVERSITY
UTTARAKHAND OPEN UNIVERSITY Uttarakhand Open University (also known as UOU Haldwani) was established in 2005 with the aim of disseminating knowledge and skills through distance learning. The logo of UOI consists of a stylized image of a snow capped mountain range with the sun rising behind it. A river flows from the mountains into green plains. Below these motifs an open supports an icon of a person with a mortarboard hat is placed. The name of the university is written in both Devanagari and English below the image on its blue circular border. The border also bears the motto in Sanskrit ‘श्रद्धावाँल्लभते ज्ञानं’a quote from the slokas of Srimad Bhagavad Gita meaning ‘One Who is Devoted Attains Knowledge’. The motifs of natural elements represent the state of Uttarakhand; the open book denotes knowledge and wisdom and the mortarboard meant for graduates meaning the graduation of students in their chosen subjects.
