MAHARISHI VALMIKI SANSKRIT UNIVERSITY The emblem of Maharishi Valmiki Sanskrit University (MVSU) has a Dakshinavarti Shankh (conch) on a purple circular background. The conch is supported by its motto in Sanskrit ‘पावका नः सरस्वती’ (Rig Veda 1.3.10) meaning ‘Sarasvatī, the Purifier’ and circumscribed by its name, place and its status. THese are ensconced by a red circular border on which a glowing sun is placed. The Dakshinavarti Shankh the presence of the Goddess Lakshmi and is said to represent the auspiciousness of the universe; the sun refers to the refers to the life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity and the colour purple symbolises royalty, nobility, luxury, power and ambition.

HEMCHANDRACHARYA NORTH GUJARAT UNIVERSITY The emblem of Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University (HNGU) has a line drawing of Goddess Saraswati seated on a lotus with swan and veena, placed on a pedastel with an attractive arch with decorations. The arch bears its name in Devanagari. The Goddess represents learning, education, wisdom, knowledge and learning. The motto in Sanskrit ‘पावका नः सरस्वती’ (Rig Veda 1.3.10) meaning ‘Sarasvatī, the Purifier’ is placed below the motif of Goddess. 

NALANDA OPEN UNIVERSITY

NALANDA OPEN UNIVERSITY The Nalanda Open University (NOU) is the only university in Bihar that offers distance learning and it was founded in March 1987. The emblem of the university has a dharma chakra with eight spokes in blue and yellow colours supported by an eight petalled lotus in red colour with a black border of sixteen petals. On each side below this motif laurels are placed and a swastika is placed in between them. Below these on a yellow banner the name of the university is inscribed in Devanagari. The motto in Sanskrit ‘पावका नः सरस्वती’ (Rig Veda 1.3.10) meaning ‘Sarasvatī, the Purifier’ surmounts the emblem. The chakra represents the Magadha dynasty and its Buddhist origin; the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the laurels denote ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication and the swastika means ‘That which is good’.

SAURASHTRA UNIVERSITY

SAURASHTRA UNIVERSITY Saurashtra University, established on May 23, 1967, is situated in Rajkot city of the Saurashtra region of Gujarat State. The emblem of the university has a lion sitting in front of a mountain range with rising sun accompanied by a veena, an open book and a space shuttle. All these are ensconced by a brown circle with floral design patterns, which carries the university’s motto in Sanskrit ‘पावका नः सरस्वती’ meaning ‘Goddess Saraswati, who Nourishes and Sanctifies’ and its name. The lion, the mountains and the rising sun represents the geography of the location of the university. The veena symbolises gyana and when the veena is played and the musical notes are produced, it is as though knowledge is radiating out in all directions. Open book denotes knowledge and wisdom and space shuttle symbolises the exploration of space and space science.
