ASSAM AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY The Assam Agricultural University was established on April 1, 1969 under The Assam Agricultural University Act, 1968. The green colour emblem has a pedestal holding a burning lamp supported on both sides crowns of cereal. These are ensconced by a leaf-like shield or plaque bearing the name of the university. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विज्ञानं लोकसेवार्तम्’ meaning ‘Science is Service to Humanity’ is placed on a banner at the bottom of the leaf like shield. The lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the crowns of cereal denotes food, food security, prosperity, growth and fertility and the green colour denotes agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.
