WEST BENGAL STATE UNIVERSITY The West Bengal State University (WBSU), Barasat was established in the year 2008. The circular emblem of the university is in yellow in blue colours with a traditional lamp in the centre, ensconced by a blue border with yellow lettering of its name and place. The border has inner and outer supporting lines in yellow. At the bottom of the emblem its motto ‘लक्ष्यं विश्वमानम् meaning ‘Goal of World Standard’ is inscribed in blue and supported by yellow lines on top and bottom. The traditional lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity. The colour blue denotes trust, character and integrity and the range of other colours denotes the diversity and variety the university caters to and yellow denotes warmth, speed and light. The strokes denote speed, efficiency and quality service.
