CENTRE FOR JOINT WARFARE STUDIES The Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS) was raised at the initiative of the Ministry of Defence on 24 Aug 2007 and is registered under ‘The Societies Registration Act 1860’. The Centre has been set up to rise above sectoral and departmental legacies and examine joint warfare and synergy issues in their entirety; provide the much needed interface between various stakeholders, viz the government, public and private sector, academia, NGOs and civil society and initiate debates and discussions in an independent and unbiased milieu for emergence of best possible alternative. Its emblem in brown and gold in oval shape has the motifs of all the three armed forces supported by a book and crested by the National Emblem. This is ensconced by a brown oval border in which ‘Aligned with the Future’ and ‘Victory Through Jointness’ is written. At the button its acronym ‘CENJOWS’ is placed.

CENTRAL INSTITUTE OF HIMALAYAN CULTURE STUDIES The Cabinet of Government of India approved the proposal for establishment of Central Institute of Himalayan Culture Studies  (CIHCS) on May 19, 2010 as Society under Societies Registration Act. The CIHCS has accordingly been registered on November 10, 2010 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The Society is mandated to undertake under graduate, post graduate and doctoral programmes in Buddhist  and Himalayan studies and may also establish and maintain feeder schools. The institute is presently conducting courses for Purva Madhyama (equivalent to class IX-X), Uttar Madhyama (equivalent to class XI-XII) and Shastri (equivalent to graduation), Acharya (equivalent to post graduation) and Vidyavarti (equivalent to PhD). Its emblem has a ‘Yantra ’ on pedestal with dhwaja placed on a lotus base. Its motto ‘Atma Deepo Bhava’ is written on a yellow banner below this. The name of the institution in English, Devanagari

CENTRAL INSTITUTE OF HIGHER TIBETAN STUDIES Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS) was established in 1967, on the joint initiative of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Originally called Central University of Tibetan Studies (CUTS), it began functioning as a constituent wing of the Sampurnananda Sanskrit University and eventually emerged as an autonomous body in 1977 under the Department of Culture, Ministry of Education, Government of India. The objective was to take care of the cultural and educational needs of the youth among the Tibetan diaspora in India and those of the Himalayan regions of India, who earlier had the opportunity of being educated in Tibet, this came to be discontinued in the wake of the Chinese occupation. MAULANA ABUL KALAM AZAD INSTITUTE OF ASIAN STUDIES The Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies  (MAKAIAS) was set up at the joint initiative of the Government of India, Department of culture, Ministry of Human Resource Development  and the Government of West Bengal . Registered as a Society under the West Bengal Registration of Societies' Act of 1961, with Prof. Nurul Hasan, the then Governor of West Bengal, as the President of the Society on the 4th of January 1993. It is funded by the Department of culture, Government of India. Presently, the Governor of West Bengal, is the President of the Society. An acre of land in Bidhannagar (Salt Lake City), Kolkata, was allotted to the Institute by the Government of West Bengal for building the Institutes campus. Its circular emblem has an eight petalled lotus in the centre with a background of the rays of sun. This is encircled by its name written in reverse lettering in a black border. http://makaias.
