NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY GOA The National Institute of Technology Goa (NIT Goa) is a premier technical Institute of the region. NIT Goa was established in the year 2010 by an act of parliament and it is declared as ‘Institute of National Importance’. The emblem of this institute is dominantly blue and circular with a white border. The border carries its name in Hindi and English along with its motto in Sanskrit ‘या विद्या सा विमुक्तये‘ meaning ‘True Knowledge Liberates’. Inside the circle in cyan background a Florence Nightingale oil lamp with flame is placed surrounded by a sprocket wheel. The oil lamp represents the dedication and selfless work of nurses and in this case by the Institute. Nightingale’s dedication remained steadfast even after the war was over.
