ICAR-INDIAN INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURAL BIOTECHNOLOGY The circular emblem of ICAR-Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology (IIAB) has an open book in green colour supporting a blue motif of cattle from which an orange flame and helical DNA chain is emanating. Below these motifs the acronym of the Institute in Devanagari and English. These are ensconced by its name in Devanagari and English. The tricolour denotes the nation; the flame denotes enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; the open book denotes education, knowledge, learning and wisdom and the cattle and DNA chain represent the nature and scope of research carried out by the institution.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH The blue circular emblem of National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) is a circle with blue outlines housing the motifs of helical structure of DNA from biology, a benzene ring from chemistry, a black hole from physics, ornamental fractal like structure with eight arms along the circumference representing Riemann surface of constant negative structure from mathematics and its acronym. The name of the Institute is written surmounts the circle. The motto of the Institute in Sanskrit which is an extract from the Kathopanishad ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’, (Shloka 11, Ishopanishad) meaning ‘Immortality is Gained from Learning’ is placed below the circle. The colour blue represents serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.

MAHARSHI DAYANAND UNIVERSITY The emblem of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) has motifs of a DNA, a heritage tower and a solar panel placed on a cyan circle. This circle is ensconced by a blue circular border, on which the name of the university, year of inception and place are inscribed. These are supported by a pair of green laurels on sides and a blue banner, which carries its motto in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’. The motifs represent the domains of education offered by the university and the laurels refer to ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication and the colour blue symbolises serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.

SHOOLINI UNIVERSITY OF BIOTECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES The emblem of Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences (SUBMS) has a structure of DNA in blue and on the right its name is written in sans serif capitals and lowercase in red. The DNA represents the focus area of the university’s field education. The colour red signifies passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration and the colour blue denotes serenity, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty. Overall the insignia is simple, attractive and elegant.

KERALA VETERINARY AND ANIMAL SCIENCES UNIVERSITY The emblem of the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU)  has a turn of DNA, which is the basic molecule of life, for humans, animals as well as other lifeforms. The red portion of the DNA denotes the letter ‘K’. The DNA appears on the backdrop of a bright golden sun - the light of which represents knowledge. The motif of the sun has sixty four rays, representing sixty four art (kala) forms of ancient Indian philosophy, depicting ‘Sarvakalaashaala’. In another view, the DNA represents modern knowledge and the sun represents traditional wisdom. The name and motto of the university ‘Ideas in Action’ circumscribe the motif.

BABA GHULAM SHAH BADSHAH UNIVERSITY Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) has come into existence by an Act of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly called the Jammu & Kashmir Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Act No. XVI of 2002 and the same is recognised by the AICTE and UGC, New Delhi, under sections 2F and 12 B. The university is patronised by the Jammu & Kashmir Wakf Council. The motto of the university is ‘إقرا باسم ربك الذي خلق’ which means, ‘Read in the Name of God who has Created all that Exists’. AIPH UNIVERSITY The Asian Institute of Public Health (AIPH) came into being in 2008 in the country. AIPH started a flagship programme, Master of Public Health (MPH) under an Indo-US partnership in 2010, which became self sufficient in 2015. These exceptional educational and outstanding research programmes resulted in getting AIPH a university status through state legislature in 2018. Its circular emblem in yellow and brown colours has a tree supported by a pair of hands. The tree is made up of motifs of an animal’s paw, DNA structure, a flying bird and humans. DR. M.G.R. EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE Tmt. Kannammal Educational Trust was formed in 1985 and started Thai Moogambigai Polytechnic College. It acquired Deemed University status in 2003 as Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute (DMEARI). The emblem of the university has a shield divided into four parts in violet and yellow colours. SHER-E-KASHMIR UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY KASHMIR Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) was founded in 1982 by an Act passed by the State Legislature of Jammu and Kashmir. The emblem of the university has a structure of a DNA housing a sheep, pine tree, an apple and heads of cereals placed in the background of mountains, rivers, grass and rising sun. This is topped by its motto ‘भावयविभोर्वै भवम्’ in Sanskrit and Kashmiri, which means ‘Feel the Power of the Lord’. All these are ensconced in a circular border, the top portion of which is treated like a gear wheel and the border bears the name of the university. Its logo implies the beauty of infinity and integrity - the quest for infinite knowledge...the aim of integrating various branches of science...thus was born our emblem, reflecting the vision of IISER TVM; yes!...it wants to tell you what it means; because, the students and faculty of IISER TVM designed it; just have a look at it.....you will find the symbol of infinity, in a cool light blue colour; the same blue which gives beauty to the infinite sky and the deep ocean. The symbol of infinity is definitely mathematical, anyway it is not just mathematics- there are the DNA strands which hold it together; on the other side, you might see the pi, which extends and becomes one with the bonds of chemistry running through the strands.

IISER Kolkata’s insignia has a central black dot representing its stakeholders - students, teachers and society from which the elliptical grey and blue DNA structure and grey lotus emerge, like knowledge emerges from the pages of a book. Below this its acronym and name of the place are written with bold and normal sans serif typeface.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY RAIPUR National Institute of Technology Raipur (Formerly Government Engineering College Raipur) is situated in the capital the State of Chhattisgarh3. From December 1, 2005, the institute has become the National Institute of Technology. The circular multicolour emblem has a shining sun in the centre with the backdrop of circumnutating squares, supported by a bridge, a glass flask, an antenna and a helical structure of DNA. This is ensconced in circular gear. This assemblage has a border in which the name of the institute is written in English and Devanagari.
