CORPS OF SIGNALS The Corps of Signals as a separate arm was formed on February 15, 1911. Since then, the Corps has made rapid strides, keeping pace with technology and in a number of cases driving technology to evolve faster and more reliable communication systems. The Corps has also evolved drills and procedures that ensure the provision of reliable and responsive communications to the army under harsh terrain and tough battle field conditions – living up to the motto of the Corps in Sanskrit ‘Teevra Chaukas’ (Swift and Secure). The Corps of Signals is organised into Officers, JCOs (Junior Commissioned Officers) and Other Ranks. Unlike officers who are employable at all aspects (Communication, Administration etc.), the other ranks are organised into various trades like ORL (Operator Radio & Line), TES (Technician Electronics & Systems), etc. That is the other ranks are employed only within their respective fields.
