RANCHI UNIVERSITY Ranchi University came into existence on July 12, 1960 as an autonomous institution as it was carved out of erstwhile Bihar University. It underwent tetra-furcation with creation of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag (1992), Nilambar Pitambar University, Medini Nagar (2009), Kolhan University, Chaibasa (2009) and Dr Shyama Prasad Mukharjee University, Ranchi (2019). The emblem of the university has an open book, which carries the motifs of mountains and river; laboratory equipment for physics; a hand holding a ring and forest of trees on its pages. These are ensconced in a blue circle. This are circumscribed by its name in Devanagari, a pair of laurels and its motto in Sanskrit ‘तेजस्वि नावधीतमस्तु’ (Shanti Mantra, Taittriya Upanishad) meaning ‘May the Study of Both of us be Brilliant’. SHOBHIT UNIVERSITY Shobhit Institute of Engineering and Technology, Deemed to be University known as Shobhit University was established on November 8, 2006. The emblem of the university was conceptualised by Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra and designed by Raashid Rangrez. The circle which has no beginning and end is a universal symbol and represents the notion of totality, wholeness, perfection, the self, the infinite, the eternity and the timelessness in cyclic movement. The outermost boundary of the circle has scalloped shaped edges in yellow ochre. The curves of the scallops depict cupped hands ready to receive the benediction of knowledge from the universe and the eight points represent the eight directions. The depiction signifies receiving the light of the sun from the universe. Light is symbolic of knowledge, goodwill and good fortune. Enclosed within the outer ring is a map of the world in the colour green. Green is the colour of prosperity. Superimposed on the world map
