SARDAR BEANT SINGH STATE UNIVERSITY Sardar Beant Singh State University (SBSSU), Gurdaspur was established by the Government of Punjab as an autonomous institution through registered society. The foundation stone was laid on February 28,1994 and the college was inaugurated on August 20, 1995 by the Chief Minister Sardar Beant Singh. The emblem of the university has a circular gear wheel outer with red circular outline. The central light colour circle has the motifs of a factory with smoking chimney, a dish antenna, a computer, a mechanical equipment and a banner with the motto in Punjabi ‘ਨਿਸਚੈ ਕਰ ਅਪਨੀ ਜੀਤ ਕਰੋ’ meaning ‘Make Sure You Win’ inscribed on it. These are ensconced by a yellow circular border, which carries the name of the university and its place. SHAHEED BHAGAT SINGH STATE UNIVERSITY The Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University (SBSSU) was established by the Government of Punjab in 1995 with the name Shaheed Bhagat Singh College of Engineering and Technology as a tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh. In the academic year 2011-12, it was upgraded to the status of a technical campus and rechristened as Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical Campus, Ferozepur. By an Act of the State Government of Punjab, it was declared as a university on April 1, 2021. The emblem of the university has a portrait of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, placed above the map of the State of Punjab on a motif of globe. THE MAHARAJA BHUPINDER SINGH PUNJAB SPORTS UNIVERSITY The Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University, Patiala (MBSPSU) has been established vide Notification on August 29, 2019 under the Punjab Act No. 11 of 2019. The  UGC accorded recognition to the University under section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956 on September 9, 2019 started functioning from September 16, 2019 from the premises of Professor Gursewak Singh Government College of Physical Education, Patiala. The university has been granted membership of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) from April 1, 2020 and placed in the North Zone. It has three constituent and five affiliated colleges offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in physical education and sports, sports science, yoga, physical fitness and health science. INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT AMRITSAR Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar is the fifteenth IIM set up by the Ministry of Education (earlier Ministry of Human Resource Development) with the support of the Government of Punjab. After the registration of IIM Amritsar Society on July 27, 2015, the first batch for the class of 2015-17 was enrolled in August 2015. The Indian Institute of Management Amritsar organised a logo with moto design competition, online through the ‘MyGov’ portal in January 2018 in order to seek people’s involvement and participation in the promotion of IIM Amritsar. A total of 850 entries were received for logo with moto design from different parts of the country. The expert committee shortlisted five entries for the selection of final selection of logo for IIM Amritsar and Board of Governors of IIM Amritsar finalised the logo. THE PUNJAB REGIMENT The Punjab Regiment is one of the oldest in the Indian Army. It traces its origins to 1761 when the first battalion was raised at Trichinopoly. The first four battalions of what later became the 2nd Punjab Regiment and finally the Punjab Regiment, were raised during the hostilities in the Carnatic in south India between 1761 and 1776. The numbers and titles of the battalions changed during the successive reorganisations of the Madras Presidency Army and later of the Indian Army during the 18th, 19th and 20th Centuries. The names changed from Coast Sepoys to Carnatic Battalions to Madras Native Infantry to The Punjab Regiment. In 1951, four battle experienced battalions of the former princely states of Punjab, joined the Regiment. These were a battalion each from the Jind and Nabha State Forces and the First and Second Battalions of Patiala Infantry. KISSAN During the British era, trains passing through Punjab made a stop at a processing unit where farmers sold freshly picked fruits. RUPAY RuPay is the first of its kind global card payment network of India, with wide acceptance at ATMs, POS devices and e-commerce websites across India. RuPay is a product of NPCI, the umbrella organisation that powers retail payments in the country. Its ten core promoter banks are State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India, Bank of India, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Citibank N. A. and HSBC. Currently 56 banks are shareholders of NPCI. The name derived from the words ‘Rupee’ and ‘Payment’, emphasizes that India’s very own initiative for card payments. It is India’s answer to international payment networks, expressing the pride of nationality. Its logo in dark blue colour has its name written in bold italic sans serif followed by two overlapping triangles in orange and green, symbolising swiftness of transactions.
