MANONMANIAM SUNDARANAR UNIVERSITY Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MSU) was established as a teaching cum affiliating University on September 7, 1990, which is spread over 550 acres. The university is named after the renowned Tamil poet scholar, Professor P. Sundaram Pillai (1855-1897), the author of the famous verse drama Manonmaniam. The tagline of the University is ‘Reaching the Unreached’. The emblem of the university is a shield supported by a banner. The shield holds the motifs of an elephant, gopuram, portrait of Sundaranar and a glowing sun above water. At the bottom, on a banner its motto in Tamil ‘அறிவே அனைத்து ஆற்றலும்’ meaning 'All the Power is Knowledge’. MADURAI KAMARAJ UNIVERSITY Established in 1966, Madurai Kamaraj University as a State University. The coat of arms of the university is a blue shield supported by a red banner on which its motto in Tamil ‘மெய்ப்பொருள் காண்பதறிவு’ which mean ‘To Seek Truth is Knowledge’. The shield is divided into eight parts and they carry different motifs. The Gopuram of Pandya dynasty is placed in the top middle; burning traditional lamp on its left and an open book on its right; In the middle a pink lotus supported on either side by an elephant and a rocket and a pair of fish at the bottom. TAMILNADU DR. J. JAYALAITHA FISHERIES UNIVERSITY Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU) is a government fisheries university situated in Vettar River View Campus in the southern part of the city of Nagapattinam, Tamilnadu, India. It is about ten kilometres from the Nagapattinam Junction Railway Station. It is one of the premier fisheries universities. Its predominantly green colour emblem of the university has a gopuram representing the temple architecture of Tamilnadu and a flowing water body representing the domain of fish and fisheries, forming the backdrop for a traditional lamp symbolising light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity supported by an open book, which is a symbol of knowledge and wisdom. THE TAMILNADU DR. J JAYALALITHAA MUSIC AND FINE ARTS UNIVERSITY The Tamilnadu Dr. J Jayalalithaa Music and Fine Arts University (TTDJJMFAU) was exclusively to foster, popularise, promote the music and fine arts so as to preserve traditional systems of Indian music, performing arts and fine arts practised in Tamilnadu. The circular logo has a green circular border, which carries the name of the university in Tamil and English. Inside the border on a grey background of gopuram - the emblem of the Government of Tamilnadu, silhouette images of a dancer, painter and a sculptor supported by a violet veena are placed. Below the veena an open and a traditional lamp is kept atop a pedestal which carries the motto of the university in Tamil ‘பயிற்சி பண்படுத்தும்’ meaning ‘Practice Makes Perfect’. The open book denotes knowledge and wisdom and the traditional lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.

RASHTROTTHANA PARISHAT

RASHTROTTHANA PARISHAT Rashtrotthana Parishat is a not for profit social service voluntary organisation. It has its headquarters at Kempegowda Nagar, Bangalore, India. It is established in the year 1965. Its emblem has a map of India lit with a traditional lamp spreading light and crested by a gopuram, which symbolise the reverence to the nation and treating it as God. It is supported by its motto in Sanskrit ‘राष्ट्रदेवो भव’ meaning ‘Nation is God’ and a book meaning knowledge and wisdom. The emblem is put on a pedestal which bears its name ‘Rashtrotthana Parshad’ in Kannada.

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TIRUCHIRAPALLI Indian Institute of Information Technology Tiruchirappalli (IIITT), also known as IIIT Trichy, is an Institute of National Importance and one among the 21 IIITs proposed under the non-profit Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Model by MHRD. The logo of IIITT has a black and white photograph of the gopuram of the temple of Srirangam supported by a book, surrounded by a circle of leaves and a laurel on both the sides. The gopuram or tower symbolises greatness, height and glory of education, spirituality and divinity in achievements supported by the book of knowledge. The circle of leaves adds to its nearness to nature and the laurels symbolise consistent and everlasting victories in the chosen field of education. It is unfortunate to note that an institution of ‘National Importance’ from the state of Tamilnadu - a known centre for educational excellence has a logo which needs professional touch in its execution
