KARNATAKA SOAPS AND DETERGENTS LIMITED Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL) is an Indian company, owned by the Government of Karnataka, that manufacturers personal care products including Mysore Sandal Soap. The Government Sandalwood Oil factory was established by the Maharaja of Mysore Nalwadi Krishna Raja Wodeyar and Diwan Sir M. Vishweshwaraiah in the year 1916 at Mysore, to extract sandalwood oil from sandalwood. The high quality sandalwood oil with British Pharmacopoeia was introduced to the world by the Government Soap Factory, Mysore. With the idea of utilizing the available natural sandalwood oil for making soap in the home State of Mysore. Sri S.G. Shastri, who was a qualified industrial chemist, was sent to London for an advanced training on soap and perfumery technology. Sri S.G.
