GONDWANA UNIVERSITY The greenish emblem of Gondwana University (GU) has a green shield with a silver border houses the motifs of an archway representing architecture of the place, an open book, a pair of laurels, its name and place in Devanagari and its motto in Sanskrit ‘ज्ञाना देव तु कैवल्यम्’ meaning ‘Knowledge Alone Liberates’. Below the shield, on a yellow border the name of the university is write.The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the laurels denote ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication and the colour green denotes agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.

SOMAIYA VIDYAVIHAR UNIVERSITY The Somaiya Vidyavihar Complex was founded in 1959 by the late Shri K.J. Somaiya. Karamshibhai set up the Somaiya Trust in 1953 for shaping young minds through quality education. On August 26, 2019, Somaiya Vidyavihar announced that it would be ‘the first ever private university in Mumbai’. The red colour circular emblem of the university has a traditional lamp crested by its motto in Sanskrit ‘ज्ञानादेव तु कैवल्यम्’ and its English version ‘Knowledge Alone Liberates’ meaning knowledge liberates one from poverty, hunger and other attachments. At the bottom its name is written. The traditional lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.
