ATAL MEDICAL AND RESEARCH UNIVERSITY The emblem of Atal Medical and Research University (AMRU) is is a shield with thick cyan border which houses its acronym, its name in English and Devanagari, a motif of Mount Himalayas, Staff of Hermes with a pair of entwined serpents and wings and a stack of three books. Below the shield on an orange banner its motto in Sanskrit ‘सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः’ (1.4.14, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad ) meaning ‘May All be Happy May All be Healthy’. The shield symbolises protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the colour cyan denotes sky, hope and spring, peace, tranquillity, calmness, relaxation, emotional balance; the Staff of Caduceus or Hermes denotes medicine and medical education; the Himalayas represent geography of the locale; the books denote knowledge, education, wisdom and learning and the colour orange means energy, vitality, creativity, inspiration, joy and happiness.

UTTAR PRADESH UNIVERSITY OF MEDICAL SCIENCES The Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences (UPUMS), formerly U.P. Rural Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, is a medical school, hospital and medical research university located at Saifai in the Etawah District of Uttar Pradesh, India through Government of Uttar Pradesh under Act 15 of 2016. The circular emblem of the university has a yellow border which carries its name in English and Devanagari. Inside the circle the caduceus or the staff of Hermes, depicted as a stick entwined by two snakes, holding a traditional lamp crested by the Ashoka Chakra and supported by the laurels on both sides and an open book at the bottom. The laurels are further supported by its motto in Sanskrit ‘सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः’ meaning ‘May All be Happy May All be Healthy’.
