NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY NAGPUR The seal of the National Law University Nagpur (NLUN) is a shield in red and blue with a two-pan beam balance as the central motif with the beam is treated as ‘Lady Justice’. This is supported by its acronym and surmounted by its motto in Sanskrit ‘शुभां विद्यां श्रद्दधानः आदधीत’ (Manusmriti) meaning ‘Let a Faithful Person Learn’. Below the shield on a white banner the name of the university is written in blue. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the two-pan beam balance the scales are the traditional symbols of justice as wielded by statues of Lady Justice and the supporting hands signify the support for justice, healing and life; the colour red symbolises passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration and the colour blue serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.

DAMODARAM SANJIVAYYA NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY The emblem of Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU) houses the motifs of Lady Justice (Lustitia) with the attributes of scales, sword and a blindfold; an open book symbolising knowledge, education and wisdom and poorna kumbha denoting fullness and abundant prosperity supported by a pair of laurels symbolising ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication, all placed on a light green circle. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘यतो धर्मस्ततो जयः’ (Udyoga Parva 37.09) meaning ‘Act Dharma Thus Win’ is placed on a green banner below the motifs. This is a famous saying of Vyasa in his Mahabharata. In the first instance, Dhritarashtra told Lord Krishna this while smoothly rejecting his proposal to give the share of land to the Pandavas.
