NORTH EASTERN REGIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) is a science and technology oriented higher education institute in Nirjuli, Itanagar, in Arunachal Pradesh was established in 1984. It is a ‘Deemed to be University’, autonomous, fully funded and controlled by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The red colour lotus petals shaped emblem holds the motifs of a rising sun on eight mountains representing the eight States of the northeast of India. On the rising sun its acronym is written. On the border of the lotus motif its name is written. Below the pictorial, on a banner, its motto in Sanskrit ‘अष्टदां प्रान्तभूमिः प्रज्ञा’ meaning ‘Wisdom for Eight States’.
