VEER SURENDRA SAI UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY The Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) Odisha was formed by Orissa Act 9 of 2009 by converting University College of Engineering (UCE), Burla to a non-affiliating unitary university. The “university is named after Veer Surendra Sai, the great Indian freedom fighter who was born on January 23, 1809 and sacrificed his life fighting against the British and died in obscurity in Asirgarh Jail on February 28 1884. The emblem of the university which is in the form of a shield and supported by a banner is created using tones of blue. The upper portion holds the name of the university, its state and place. The lower portion has the motifs of a bridge, gear wheel, electric transmission tower, two computer monitors and a satellite antenna. ‘Serving the Nation Since 1956’ is placed inside the gear. SHRI RAM MURTI SMARAK TRUST Shri Ram Murti Smarak Trust, a public charitable Trust (Reg.) was established in the year 1990, to commemorate Cherish memory of veteran freedom fighter and Gandhian, Late Ram Murti. Its emblem in brown colour has a trishul (trident) has a pair of Aesculapian snakes winding around it as a symbol of medicine, supported by a book meaning education. A lion and a horse are poised towards the trident symbolising strength, power and courage and magical power and endurance respectively. These are crested by its motto in Sanskrit ‘सिद्धिर्भवती कर्मजा’ meaning ‘Siddhi becomes Karma’. All these are ensconced in a circle with two border lines. Below the circle on a banner, its name is written. At the bottom on another banner ‘India’ is written.
