DAMAN DIU AND DADRA NAGAR HAVELI TOURISM The light blue emblem of Daman Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli Tourism (DDDNHP) is a panel with a border made up by the motifs of the traditional mask, a pair of local flowers, vegetables, fish, deer, snails, swans, anchors lions and cannons and flowing waters and a church. The panel holds the name of the tourism establishment and at the bottom its tagline ‘Small is Big’ is written. The motifs which form the shape and border represent what is available in the State’s geography and a tourist attraction. The emblem is innovative, representative and attractive. The colour light blue represents the blue waters and tranquillity, peace, health, healing, acceptance, truth, serenity, trustworthiness, reliability, wisdom, creativity, spirituality and softness.

ATAL BIHARI VAJPAYEE HINDI VISHWAVIDYALAYA Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi Vishwavidyalaya (ABVHV) was established on December 19, 2011 by Madhya Pradesh Act No. 34, 2011. The orange and red emblem of the university has a monogram using its Devanagari acronym in white colour placed on a red circle and circumscribed by a snake. These are ensconced by a circular border in orange colour with red outline bearing the name of the university in Devanagari and a pair of horns of deer and its year of establishment. At the bottom of this emblem on a red banner the motto of the university is written in Sanskrit ‘न हि ज्ञानेन सदृशं पवित्रमिह विद्यते’ (Shloka 38, Chapter 4, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘In this World, there is Nothing as Pure and Virtuous as the Pursuit of Knowledge’. ACHARYA NAGARJUNA UNIVERSITY Buddhist preceptor and Philosopher Acharya Nagarjuna founded a university on the banks of river Krishna some centuries ago and made it a great centre of learning. The university was established by Act 43 of 1976 of Andhra Pradesh State Legislature and Governed by Act 4 of 1991 and has been renamed Acharya Nagarjuna University in 2004. The symbolism of th emblem is based on the concept that all human excellence proceeds from truth and culminates in truth. The vase of plenty (Purna Ghata) is a prototype from the Amaravati sculpture of the early centuries. It stands for material prosperity on the one hand and objective knowledge on the other. Its attributes are sasya (fertility), santana (increase), sampat (prosperity) and samriddhi (plenitude). SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.

CENTRAL INSTITUTE OF BUDDHIST STUDIES Before 1959, Ladakhi scholars, novices and monks used to go to Tibet in pursuit of higher monastic Buddhist education and to do extensive research in the famous Mahaviharas and other monastic centres. In the 1950s, this practice came to an abrupt end because of the political situation in Tibet. The Central Institute of Buddhist Studies was established in 1959 with the holy rituals performed by H.E. Skyabje Ling Rinpoche, the senior tutor of His Holiness the fourteenth Dalai Lama. The University Grants Commission (UGC), conferred the status of ‘Deemed to be University’ to CIBS in 2016. The emblem of the university has a dharma chakra kept on a lotus shaped pedestal and is supported by a lotus. On each side of the chakra a deer is sitting and supporting it. VEER CHANDRA SINGH GARHWALI UTTARAKHAND UNIVERSITY OF HORTICULTURE & FORESTRY Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Uttarakhand University of Horticulture & Forestry (VCSG UUHF) is a prominent agricultural university located in Bharsar, Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India. It was established on December 17, 2011 under the Uttarakhand State Act 2011. Its emblem has a pine tree supported by a pair of trees, a jumping deer and a pheasant in the backdrop of mountains. The pine tree is supported by a woman and a man holding an open book and holding a shining torch. These are ensconced in green and white borders which carry the name of the university and year of establishment in English and Devanagari respectively. NAVA NALANDA MAHAVIHARA In the early 1950s, in order to revive the lost glory and heritage of ancient Nalanda Mahavihara, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of the Republic of India, declared that the ancient seat of Buddhist  learning at Nalanda would be revived. At the insistence of Ven. Bhikshu Jagdish Kashyap and with this goal in mind, the Government of Bihar established a research institute called ‘Magadh Institute of Post-Graduate Studies and Research in Pali and Allied Languages and Buddhist Learning’ at Nalanda in 1951. It later came to be known as Nava Nalanda Mahavihara (NNM) . The inspiration behind the establishment of this institute was to develop a centre of higher studies in Pali and Buddhism along the lines of ancient Nalanda Mahavihara. From the beginning, the institute functioned as a residential institution, with a limited number of Indian and foreign students.
