ASSAM TOURISM DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION LTD The insignia Assam Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (ASTDC) has a rhinoceros standing in front of a big sun along with a bud of tea leaves above flowing waters. The rhinoceros and tea leaves represent the animal inhabitants and the famous produce of the State. This eastern State is famous for its sun rises and the mighty river of Brahmaputra and its tributaries which form parts of the pictorial. Its tagline ‘Awesome Assam’ is written in handwritten script style below the motifs. Its name ‘Assam Tourism’ is written at the bottom. The logo is informative and attractive.

ALIPURDUAR UNIVERSITY

ALIPURDUAR UNIVERSITY Alipurduar University is the first state aided University of Alipurduar district which was inaugurated by Smt. Mamata Banerjee. The emblem of the university has a circle with yellow and cyan background carrying a plaque with an open book symbolising education, knowledge and wisdom and a rhinoceros representing the local ecology. It is supported by laurels of paddy crowns symbolising victory, achievement and success and topped by its name in Bengali and at the bottom with the year of its establishment. This circle with motifs is ensconced by a green toned border carrying the university’s name in English and Devanagari separated by twigs of tea leaves. Below the emblem on a green colour banner its motto in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ meaning ‘That which Liberates is Knowledge’ which forms part of a verse appearing in Vishnu-Purana (1.19.41) and ‘Honesty Wisdom Creativity’ are written.

THE ASSAM KAZIRANGA UNIVERSITY

THE ASSAM KAZIRANGA UNIVERSITY The Assam Kaziranga University was founded in 2012 and is known as KU. The University has been promoted by the North Eastern Knowledge Foundation (NEKF) trust of Khetan industrial group. The insignia of the university is the one-horned rhino found in the Kaziranga, symbolises uniqueness. It also stands for steadfast concentration in one's pursuit, overcoming obstacles of all kinds coming in the way. The rhino represents a confident and disciplined lifestyle that is not drifting aimlessly, but is respectfully connected to its roots. The sun on the top right corner, the timeless star of life, symbolises knowledge as the eternal source of enlightenment. Overall, the shield is supposed to protect us from the invasion of ignorance in our lifelong pursuit of true knowledge and its humanist applications beyond. The orange border hints at the shining glory that rewards every stellar performance upon completion.

NORTH EAST SMALL FINANCE BANK LIMITED

NORTH EAST SMALL FINANCE BANK LIMITED North East Small Finance Bank Limited (NESFB) is the wholly owned subsidiary of RGVN (North East) Microfinance Limited. NESFB was incorporated on July 25, 2016 as a subsidiary to its parent Company RGVN (North East) Micro Finance Limited. Its red colour logo has a monogram of its acronym and a word mark of its name. The monogram is created with ‘NE’ in white on a red oval denoting the horn of a rhinoceros, the native animal of the geography. On its right the name is written in two lines using sans serif bold italics font in straight and reverse styles. The colour red denotes passion, energy, active and productive, which duly represent the bank and its activities. The logo is simple and direct and stands out from clutter.

ASSAM The India Tea has its varieties based on its geographical origins. India Tea has its emblem to represent its tea brand. There are logos for each of the protected tea regions: Darjeeling, Assam Orthodox, Assam CTC, Dooars CTC, Dooars Terai, Nilgiri Orthodox, Nilgiri CTC and Kangra tea. Anyone using one of the logos must be registered with the Tea Board of India and submit their purchase and sale information yearly. The red circular emblem of Assam tea has a tea bud with three leaves sprouting from mountains and supported by an Indian rhinoceros. This is bordered by its name in sans serif font. All the elements are enclosed with a circular border line.

ALL INDIA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES GUWAHATI The All India Institute of Medical Sciences Guwahati (AIIMS Guwahati), an autonomous Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare - Government of India, was established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY) in May 2017. The emblem of AIIMS Guwahati is a three layered circular one with motifs in the centre. The outer layer acts as a banner carrying its name in Devanagari and English, supported by a pair of one horned rhinoceros. It represents the great one horned rhinoceros found in the forests of Assam, it is also listed as one of the vulnerable species. It symbolises strength and courage to keep moving ahead in spite of all obstacles. The next layer with ‘the red pattern represents the red border of the traditional Assamese ‘Gamucha', a handwoven cloth offered as a token of love and respect in Assamese culture. NO. 10 SQUADRON

NO. 10 SQUADRON The last Indian Air Force Squadron to be raised during the Second World War was No.10, the 'Winged Daggers'. The Squadron was formed on February 20, 1944 at Lahore and was equipped with the Hawker Hurricane IIc fighter. The unit was not a pure IAF one, but more a 'commonwealth' formation with a fair bit of British pilots as well as Australian and New Zealanders thrown in. The Winged Dagger emblem of No.10 Squadron was officially approved by the President of India in December 1955. The emblem was in use unofficially since the late 1940s, as can be seen on the photograph on the right. The specially fashioned Dagger, which received formal approval on May 26, 1983, symbolises the lethality of their splendid weapon. NO. 11 SQUADRON On  November 15, 1951, 11 Squadron was formed at Barrackpore with a complement of 10 Dakota MK III And MK IV aircraft. Squadron Leader P Mehta was the first commanding Officer of the Squadron. The `One-horned Rhino' was chosen as the Squadron emblem when the Squadron moved to Jorhat in February 1961.  The Squadron's motto was chosen as `Vishwambarah Prandah', meaning `Supporters of the Universe'. The Rhinoceros was chosen as it is famed for its indomitable courage, superlative strength and the ability to stand tall amidst any calamity. The famed one horned Rhinoceros has made its abode in the Kaziranga sanctuary for thousands of years now. Thus it was apt that the Rhino was chosen to represent the No. 11 sqn, as it was to become the backbone of the transport fleet of the Indian Air Force. THE ASSAM REGIMENT

THE ASSAM REGIMENT The Assam Regiment was raised on June 15, 1941 to meet the claim of the then undivided State of Assam for its own fighting unit and to counter the threat of the Japanese invasion of India. The young regiment soon proved its capabilities within three years of its raising, at the consecutive battles of Jessami, the epic defence of Kohima and the capture of Aradura, all of which were awarded as Battle Honours (now as Pre-Independence Battle Honours) to the Regiment. The Regiment earned high praise for its combat skills in World War II. After independence, the Regiment gained in strength and its battalions have taken part in all wars and counter-insurgency operations with distinction. It was awarded a Battle Honour for its tenacious defence at Chamb in the 1971 Indo-Pak War. Its Regimental Centre is Shillong, Meghalaya and its Regimental insignia is Uni-horned Rhinoceros of Assam. 101 AREA (NORTH EAST)

101 AREA (NORTH EAST) The Indian Army has several static formations in its orbat called ‘Areas’ which in turn consists of ‘Sub-Areas’. These static formations consist of geographical areas and are under the command of a Major General and Brigadier respectively. The static Areas, Sub Areas, or Independent Sub Areas span the length and breadth of the country. These look after infrastructural (and lines of communications) assets. The static formations have similar patches to those of combat formations.
