GANGADHAR MEHER UNIVERSITY Gangadhar Meher University (GMU), Sambalpur came into existence on May 30, 2015 as a unitary institution of higher learning through the Government of Odisha order No.11598/HE dated May 30, 2015 by redesignating the erstwhile Gangadhar Meher College (Autonomous). The university’s emblem bears the name of the university and the year of its inception. The rays of the sun symbolise the cultural renaissance brought by the university. The Wheel of Konark stands for the architectural glory of Odisha. The atomic fission symbolises the dawn of the atomic era. The diamond represents strength and crystalline purity, brightness and glory of the erstwhile Hirakhand Empire of which Sambalpur was the capital. The book is the sign of study and research and the Hirakud Dam symbolises the harnessing of nature by men for the service of humanity and gives the crest its local feel. NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY ODISHA The National Law University Odisha (NLUO) was established in the year 2009 under The National Law University Orissa Act, 2008 (Act 4 of 2008) passed by the Odisha State Legislature and commenced its academic activities in the academic year 2009-10. NLUO’s emblem is in the form of an escutcheon divided into four quarters, coloured blue and white alternately. The top left quarter has a balance representing the scales of justice; the top right quarter has a gavel representing the might of the judiciary. Below these, runs a banner bearing the inscription ‘National Law University Odisha’ and a representation of the Indian Constitution below. Superimposed on the centre of the shield, centering on the Fess Point, is a Chakra or wheel from the Sun Temple at Konark, which represents the State of Odisha. ODISHA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY AND RESEARCH The Odisha University of Technology and Research, (Formerly CET), Bhubaneswar was established by the Government of Odisha in 1981. It was a Constituent College of the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar since inception. The circular emblem in the shades of blue and brown has the motif of the wheel of the Sun Temple of Konark super imposed by a quick response (QR) code in the centre and intersected by a diagram of an atom. On the frame at the bottom of the wheel, the motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘कर्मणैव हि संसिद्धिदम्’ (Chapter: 3 - Shlok: 20 of Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Perfection Verily by Action Only’ is written. The name of the university in English and Odia circumscribe the emblem. The Wheel of Konark represents Odisha, its heritage and engineering prowess and the QR code and the atom represents technology and respectively.
