VEDHAKANI YOGA VIDHYALAYA

VEDHAKANI YOGA VIDHYALAYA The colourful and detailed emblem of Vedhakani Yoga Vidhyalaya has a human sitting in a yoga posture on a lotus with a five headed cobra surmounting in the backdrop of an ocean with a skyline with sun, moon and birds. These are ensconced by a green circular banner with yellow outline bearing its name in Tamil. The circular pictorial is supported by a green banner bearing its motto ‘A Step Towards Emotional Fitness’ at the bottom and four leaves on each side. The five headed snake or naga symbolises abundance; the lotus refers to purity, enlightenment, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty and the colour green symbolises nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF MENTAL HEALTH AND NEURO SCIENCES The dark hued circular emblem of National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) has a swan swimming in a waterbody with lotus in a night with a full moon. The swan though looks calm and gentle outwardly is agitating vigorously inside the water symbolising the human mind and body. The lotus represents the pure growing out of  impurity. This circular motif is circumscribed by a white border on which its name and its motto are inscribed. The motto reads in Sanskrit ‘समत्वं योग उच्यते’ (Shloka 48, Chapter 2, Srimad Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Evenness (of mind) is the Yoga’. 

BABA GHULAM SHAH BADSHAH UNIVERSITY

BABA GHULAM SHAH BADSHAH UNIVERSITY Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) has come into existence by an Act of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly called the Jammu & Kashmir Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Act No. XVI of 2002 and the same is recognised by the AICTE and UGC, New Delhi, under sections 2F and 12 B. The university is patronised by the Jammu & Kashmir Wakf Council. The motto of the university is ‘إقرا باسم ربك الذي خلق’ which means, ‘Read in the Name of God who has Created all that Exists’. The emblem of the university has a dome of a mosque in a blue arch holding the motifs of moon with rings around, Himalayan mountains, a test tube holding the DNA structure, a half gear, abortion of a tree and a water body. The arch is bordered by its name and supported by a green banner bearing its motto. The moon with rings around is a sign of divine grace and goodwill. GUJARAT VIDYAPITH

GUJARAT VIDYAPITH Gujarat Vidyapith was founded by Mahatma Gandhi on October 18, 1920. Gujarat Vidyapith has been a deemed university since 1963. The emblem of the university is an open lotus flower. In it, in Devanagari script, is written ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ meaning ‘Knowledge is That which Liberates (us)’. In Arabic it is written ‘al hikamato zallatual monimine fahaiso uajedaha ahakko leha’. The banyan tree in the emblem signifies growth. There is also the moon that symbolises beauty, calmness and development. Lotus shows non-attachment and holy spirit and the lamps on either side in a circle symbolise knowledge. The university was established for the purpose of achieving independence. The object of political independence was temporary but the devotion for self-liberation and knowledge are its permanent ideals. This devotion should continue to grow like a banyan tree and moon with a spirit of non-attachment of a lotus.

RAJIV GANDHI UNIVERSITY

RAJIV GANDHI UNIVERSITY Rajiv Gandhi University (formerly Arunachal University) is the premier institution for higher education in the state of Arunachal Pradesh and has completed twenty five years of its existence. The university was converted into a Central University from April 9, 2007. Its predominantly blue circular emblem has yellow details and a red banner. It has a Buddhist stupa supported by Buddhist symbols; crescent moon, traditional lamp, sun and a book. This is supported by a red banner on which its motto in Sanskrit ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’ meaning ‘Knowledge Imparts Mortality’ is written. All these are surrounded by a circular border which bears the name on top and a pair of laurels on bottom.
