AMA ODISHA NAVEEN ODISHA The emblem of ଆମ ଓଡିଶା ନବୀନ ଓଡିଶା or Ama Odisha Naveen Odisha meaning ‘Our Odisha New Odisha’ is a green colour conch or ‘shankha’ with three people in bright green, blue and pink colours celebrating. It has its name written on its right top. The conch or shankha is considered sacred in Hinduism as the emblem of Lord Vishnu and Buddhism and it is also known as ‘panchajanya’ and used for spreading the message and for invocation. The people celebrate the arrival of ‘New Odisha’; the colour green denotes agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth. And colourful people represent the varied nature of the population.

UNIVERSITY OF KERALA The emblem of the University of Kerala (UoK) has a lotus housing the motifs of a conch or shankha and a reading stand with palm leaf manuscript. Below the lotus its motto in Sanskrit ‘कर्मणि व्यज्यते प्रज्ञा’ (Verse 1.412, Panchatantra) meaning ‘Wisdom is Expressed in Action’ is inscribed. The lotus symbolises purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the conch or shankha is considered sacred in Hinduism as the emblem of Lord Vishnu and Buddhism and the palm leaf manuscript denotes education, learning, knowledge and wisdom.

JAIN VISHVA BHARATI INSTITUTE Jain Vishva Bharati Institute (JVBI) was established with the inspiration of Gurudev Tulsi in Ladnun, Dist Nagaur, Rajasthan. In 1991, Government of India notified JVBI as Deemed to be University under Section 3 of University Grants Commission Act, 1956. Gurudev Shri Tulsi remained its first constitutional Anushasta (moral and spiritual guide) followed by Acharya Shri Mahaprajna as its second Anushasta. The emblem of the institute is s conch or the ‘Shankha’ which is considered sacred in Hinduism as the emblem of Lord Vishnu and Buddhism is placed on a pedestal in orange colour. It is also known as ‘panchajanya’ and used for spreading the message and for invocation. At the bottom its motto in Sanskrit ‘णाणस्स सारमायारो’ meaning ‘Let the Voice of Peace, Nonviolence and Harmony Spread Throughout the World’ is written. The colour orange symbolises energy, vitality, creativity, inspiration, joy and happiness.

SHREYARTH UNIVERSITY Shreyarth University (SU) was established by the Shreyarth Foundation, which is managed by the family members of the leading Gujarati newspaper ‘Gujarat Samachar’ to address the gap between theoretical preaching and practical realities. The emblem of the university has a shield which has a Shankha or conch, supported by an open book with a background of a rising sun with a thick dark blue border. The shield also has a black border and is supported by a pair of laurels in greenish blue colour. Above the shield on a dark blue banner ‘Shreyarth’ is written using a bold slab serif font in capitals and below the shield on a banner ‘University’. At the bottom its motto in Sanskrit ‘श्रेयस्करं ज्ञानम्’ meaning ‘Creditable Knowledge’ is written. THE SANSKRIT COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY The foundation of Sanskrit College was laid during the British regime based on a recommendation by HT James Prinsep and Thomas Babington Macaulay. John Paskal Larkins Esquire laid the first foundation stone of the college in 1824. The institution rose into prominence and glory during the Principal ship of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. The Sanskrit College became The Sanskrit College and University June 15, 2016. The emblem of the university in saffron or orange colour has a conch, which is blowing in an vertical ellipse background and supported by a pedestal on which its name and year of establishment is inscribed. The conch or shankha is considered sacred in Hinduism as the emblem of Lord Vishnu and Buddhism. It is also known as ‘panchajanya’ and used for spreading the message and for invocation. The colour orange symbolises freshness, youthfulness, energy, adaptability, stimulation, kindness, ambition, enthusiasm and strength.
