KARNATAKA ELECTRICITY REGULATORY COMMISSION The circular emblem of the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) houses an electric transmission tower; a two pan beam balance and eight bolts of lightning. These are ensconced by a circular banner with purple outlines, inscribed with its name in Kannada and English. The bolts of lightning represent electric power and authority; the transmission tower represents electricity and the two pan beam balance denotes balance decisions and directions.

UNIVERSITY OF MUMBAI The insignia of University of Mumbai (UoM) is a shield housing the motifs of its iconic tower, a pair of gear wheels and a factory building, a ship to represent the city of Mumbai’s port and an open book with ‘1857’, the year of its establishment written. Below the shield, on a brown banner, its motto in Sanskrit ‘शीलवृत्त फला विद्या’ meaning ‘Virtue is the Fruit of Knowledge’. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; The factory and gear wheels denote the industrialisation of its geography and the open book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom.

MIT ART DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY The emblem and seal of MIT Art Design and Technology University (MITADU) in purple and gold has the dome of the university’s main building as the main motif supported on sides by a pair of laurels and at its bottom by its motto and its year of inception. The motto in Sanskrit ‘अथतोः ज्ञान जिज्ञासा’ (Badarayana, Brahma Sutra) means ‘Come, Now Let us Inquire into the Ultimate Truth’. These are ensconced by a white circular border with purple outlines carrying the name of the university. The colour gold denotes wealth, prosperity, power, prestige and achievement; the laurels denote ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication and the colour purple symbolises royalty, nobility, luxury, power and ambition.

G H RAISONI UNIVERSITY The insignia in red and yellow of G H Raisoni University (GHRU) is a shield with a banner on it and supported by a pair of laurels. The shield with red outline houses a glowing sun in which an umbrella dome is placed. The bottom of the shield flowing water is depicted. The red and yellow banner is inscribed with the name of the university. The shield symbolises protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the sun denotes life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the dome denotes achievement, pinnacle and glory; the flowing waters represents Kulbehra river; the laurels represent ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; the colour red symbolises passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration and the colour yellow symbolises happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity.

INSTITUTE OF INFRASTRUCTURE TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH AND MANAGEMENT The circular greenish blue and light green emblem of Institute of Infrastructure Technology Research and Management (IITRAM) has a circle with the motifs of satellite communication, a large dam of water and an electrical distribution tower. These are ensconced by a circular border on which its name and place are inscribed. The circumference of the border is decorated with motifs of a number of human beings holding their hands together. The motifs symbolise the branches of engineering and science the university offers; the humans holding hands denote unity is strength. The colours are sober and friendly and attractive for its simplicity.

ARULMIGU KALASALINGAM POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE

ARULMIGU KALASALINGAM POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE Arulmigu Kalasalingam Polytechnic College (AKPC), a self-financing Institution, was established in the year 1983 by the philanthropist, Sri. T. Kalasalingam. The emblem of the college has a sun like gear wheel treated like a glowing sun bears on it the name of the college and inside this on a yellow circle motifs of a pair of meshing gear wheels, a computer, an irrigation water dam and a electrical transmission tower. At the bottom its motto in Tamil ‘அறிவு அற்றம் காக்கும் கருவி’ meaning ‘True Wisdom Wards off Woes’ taken from Thirukkural is written on a white banner. Gear wheel interconnectedness; efficiency and precision; progress and advancement; synchronisation and timing and order and structure.

SEMBODAI R.V. POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE

SEMBODAI R.V. POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE Rukmani Ammal Educational Trust was established in the year 1994 at Sembodai in Nagapattinam District by Dr. R. Varatharajan to cater to the needs of the poor and downtrodden for providing better education. Sembodai R.V. Polytechnic College (SRVPC) was founded by him in 1997. The emblem of the polytechnic in green colour has a flask ensconced in a gear wheel and topped by an electrical transmission tower. All these are circumscribed by a green border which bears its name and place. At the bottom of htis its motto ‘Knowledge is Power’ is written. All the motifs represent the branches of engineering taught in this polytechnic.

TAMILNADU OPEN UNIVERSITY

TAMILNADU OPEN UNIVERSITY Tamilnadu Open University (TNOU) commenced its academic operations in 2003-04. The green colour circular emblem bears the motifs of a globe,supported by an open book and crested by a traditional lamp; a transmission tower and a computer. All these are ensconced in a circular border, which bears the name of the university in Tamil and English. At the bottom on a green banner, its motto in Tamil ‘எல்லோருக்கும் எப்போதும் கல்வி’ meaning ‘Education for Everyone Always’.The globe denotes the reach of the open education; the transmission tower and computer signify the role these technologies play in this form of education; the open book denotes knowledge and wisdom and the traditional lamp denotes light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY JAMSHEDPUR

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY JAMSHEDPUR National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur was formally inaugurated on August 15, 1960 at Adityapur. On December 27, 2002 RIT, Jamshedpur was formally upgraded to National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur with the Deemed University status. Its insignia in the form of an oblong shield has the following elements and motifs within it. Its name and place supported by two laurels of cereals; map of India within a gear wheel circumscribed by a revolving line; an electrical transmission tower; a scientific experiment; a burning lamp; a reservoir dam and a banner with its motto ‘शंन ॠभवः सुकृतः सुहस्ताः’ meaning ‘Well Done Well Handled’.

VISVESVARAYA NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, NAGPUR

VISVESVARAYA NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY,  NAGPUR Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur is one of the thirty National Institutes of Technology in the country. The Government of India conferred on the Institute, the Deemed to be University status (under University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956)) from June 26, 2002. Earlier, the Institute was known as Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering (VRCE) which was established in the year 1960. Its circular emblem is divided into four quarters, with a torch held by a hand in the middle. The first quadrant has a pair of meshing gears, the second has a book, the third has a bridge on a river and the fourth has an electricity transmission tower. The name and place of the institute is inscribed along the border of the circle. A banner at the bottom has its motto in Sanskrit ‘योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्’ meaning ‘Yoga is Skill in Actions’ is written.

BRUHAT BENGALURU MAHANAGARA PALIKE

BRUHAT BENGALURU MAHANAGARA PALIKE  Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is the administrative body that is responsible for all civic amenities and some infrastructural assets of the Greater Bengaluru metropolitan area. BBMP is one of the largest municipal corporation in India and its responsibilities include zoning and building regulations, health, hygiene, licensing, trade and education. It also looks at quality-of-life issues such as public open spaces, water bodies, parks and greenery. The idea of creating a logo was mooted by the Bengaluru Tourism Advisory Committee. The Department Tourism of Karnataka crowdsourced the logo where people from National Institute of Design, National Institute of Fashion Technology, Chitrakala Parishat, Srishti School of Design and several others took part. The authorities received 1750 entries. It is a simple logo with the options to change the colour (green, red, yellow) on it depending on the occasion. Its emblem has its sil
