BHARAT SCOUTS AND GUIDES The Boy Scout Movement had a simple start in the year 1907 when a Maj. General of Army Lord Baden Powell conducted an experimental camp in Brown Sea Island in England with 20 boys. Lord Baden Powell decided to start a movement for Girls with the help of his sister Agnes Baden Powell. Scouting started in India in the year 1909, when Captain T. H. Baker established the first Scout Troop in Bangalore. After the independence of our country, efforts were made for unification of the Scout and Guide Associations functioning in India. The final merger took place on November 7, 1950 and the unified organisation came into existence under the name The Bharat Scouts and Guides. BHARAT BOND EXCHAGE TRADED FUND Bharat Bond Exchange Traded Fund is an Initiative by the Government of India to cater to the borrowing requirements of the Public Sector by pooling investments from Retail, HNI and institutional investors. The ETF currently only invests in AAA rated bonds of PSUs and is managed by Edelweiss Asset Management Company. Bharat Bond ETF is a low-cost basket of CPSE (Central Public Sector Enterprises) bonds that seeks to replicate an index and trades on the stock exchange. The ETF would replicate the underlying index which will comprise bonds issued by CPSEs, CPSUs/CPFIs and other Government organisations. The fund’s logo has a pair of protecting palms in the form of a coffer with the name written using Samarkan and sans serif font in blue colour. The name of the asset manager is written below. Strokes of tricolour supports the name.

THE JAMMU & KASHMIR LIGHT INFANTRY India's first Light Infantry was born out of the peoples' response in 1947, to the invasion of Kashmir by Pakistan. In the difficult days of the invasion, the population formed local defence groups. These were later organised into militias responsible for specific sectors, e.g., Leh, Nubra, Jammu, Punch, etc. Over a period, these were grouped into the Militia battalions. Two of these were later converted into the Ladakh Scouts. The militia battalions operated with skill on the Line of Control (LoC) and in the 1971 Indo-Pak War earned three battle honours. In 1972, the militia battalions were brought on par with the army units, and in 1976 designated the Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI). Since then, battalions of the Light Infantry have served with honour in different parts of the country, in Sri Lanka and as part of the United Nations Force in Somalia. MECHANISED INFANTRY REGIMENT The Mechanised Infantry Regiment is an infantry regiment of the Indian Army. It is one of the youngest regiments in the army and though it was formed as a result of lessons learned in the 1965 Indo-Pak War, to give infantry battalions greater mobility, it was the mastermind of late Gen K Sundarji who had the foresight to cater the needs of a modern army. Various mechanised battalions being brought together under a single cap badge as the Mechanised Infantry Regiment in 1979. The Mechanised Infantry Regiment has participated in Operation Pawan in Sri Lanka, Operation Rakshak in Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir and Operation Vijay in Jammu & Kashmir. PRESIDENT’S BODYGUARD The President's Bodyguard (PBG), as it is known today, was raised in 1773 at Benares, by then Governor General Warren Hastings, with a strength of 50 picked troopers and horses. This nucleus of the Bodyguard was later augmented by another 50, provided by Raja Chet Singh of Benares, bringing the overall strength of the Bodyguard up to 100 horses and men by the end of that year. The establishment of the Regiment varied through the years, being augmented in times of war and it attained its maximum strength of 1929 all ranks, in the Army List of 1845, just prior to the First Sikh War. After Independence, in keeping with its high traditions, the PBG rendered yeoman service in 1947 and around the capital in the upheaval during the aftermath of partition. KASHI TAMIL SANGAMAM The Ministry of Education, Government of India will organise 'Kashi Tamil Sangamam' - a month long programme from November 16, 2022 - to rediscover the centuries-old bond of knowledge and ancient civilizational linkage between Varanasi and Tamilnadu. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan informed that over 2400 Tamils in twelve groups from diverse sections of society, including academics, spiritualism, philosophy, trade and commerce, agriculture, entrepreneurship, arts and artisanship will visit Kashi for eight days to get familiarised with the ancient knowledge shared by these two ancient cities. These people will come from Rameswaram, Chennai and Coimbatore. Seminars, discussions and lectures will be held during the programme. The programme will be organised under the framework of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'. IIT-Madras and Banaras Hindu University are the hosting partners of this mega event. STATUE OF UNITY Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is highly respected leader of Indian independence struggle and for his leadership in uniting the 562 princely states of India to form the Union of India. STATE EMBLEM OF BHARAT (INDIA) The State Emblem of Bharat (India) is an adaptation from the Sarnath Lion Capital of Asoka which is preserved in the Sarnath Museum. The Lion Capital has four lions mounted back to back on a circular abacus. The frieze of the abacus is adorned with sculptures in high relief of an elephant, a galloping horse, a bull and a lion separated by intervening Dharma Chakras. The abacus rests on a bell-shaped lotus. The profile of the Lion Capital showing three lions mounted on the abacus with a Dharma Chakra in the center, a bull on the right and a galloping horse on the left and outlines of Dharma Chakras on the extreme right and left has been adopted as the State Emblem of India.
