INSURANCE INSTITUTE OF INDIA (REGD.) The Insurance Institute of India (Regd.) (III) formerly known as Federation of Insurance Institutes (J.C. Setalvad Memorial) (Regd.) was established in the year 1955, for the purpose of promoting insurance education and training in the country. The Institute is a professional body serving the cause of the insurance industry. The Institute conducts examinations at three levels: Licentiate, Associateship and Fellowship as also examinations - Certificate in Foundations of Casualty Actuarial Science (General Insurance) and Certificate in Insurance Salesmanship. III is the only professional insurance institute in India and is a chartered member in the Institute of Global Insurance Education (IGIE). III’s emblem is in the shape of a round bottomed shield, which appeared in Iberian peninsula in the twelfth century. KHUDA BAKSH ORIENTAL LIBRARY The Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Public Library (KBOPL), located close to the banks of the Ganges, in Patna, holds a unique repository of 21,000 oriental manuscripts and 2.5 lakh printed books. This is a rare collection of books and manuscripts acquired over years by Khuda Bakhsh Khan, who donated his entire collection to the people of Patna by a deed of trust. The Indian government has declared the library, an Institution of National Importance by an act of Parliament in 1969, recognising the immense historical and intellectual value of its collection of rare and valuable material. The library was opened to the public in 1891 by the son of Bihar Khan Bahadur Khuda Bakhsh with 4,000 manuscripts, of which 1,400 were inherited from his father, Maulvi Mohammed Bakhsh. This autonomous institution is being governed by a Board with the Governor of Bihar as its ex-officio Chairman and the responsibility of management of the library is entrusted to its Director.
