INDIRA GANDHI UNIVERSITY The circular emblem of Indira Gandhi University, Rewari (IGU) has a thick orange border houses a number of motifs and a supporting orange banner. The tagline in Sanskrit ‘सत्यमेव जयते’ meaning ‘Truth Alone Triumphs’ inspires one to follow the path of truth. MAHARAJA CHHATRASAL BUNDELKHAND UNIVERSITY The seal of Maharaja Chhatrasal Bundelkhand University (MCBU) in the tones of brown has a dark brown border and a banner. The border ensconces the portrait of King Chhatrashal in front of his fort.The brown border is inscribed with its name in Devanagri and supported by a pair of six gemstones. The banner carries the motto in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ (Rishi Parāśara, 1,19.41, Viṣṇu Purāṇa) meaning ‘Knowledge  is one that Liberates’. KHANGCHENDZONGA STATE UNIVERSITY The insignia of Khangchendzonga State University (KSU) has a circle holding the motifs of Himalayas with flowing rivers; an open book and a traditional lamp. These are ensconced by a circular border with its name and place inscribed along with its motto in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ (Rishi Parāśara, 1,19.41, Viṣṇu Purāṇa) meaning ‘Knowledge  is One that Liberates’ is inscribed. This is further circumscribed by a traditional running design motif of the State. The mountains and the river represent the geography of the university; the open book denotes knowledge, education and wisdom and the traditional lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.

KOLHAN UNIVERSITY The emblem of Kolhan University (KU) has its motto in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ (Rishi Parāśara, 1,19.41, Viṣṇu Purāṇa) meaning ‘Knowledge  is one that Liberates’ is inscribed on a diagonally placed red square. Its four sides have motifs and illustrations of an open book symbolising knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; tribal musicians with their drums; gear wheel and factory building representing the industry and engineering skills and forest and life in villages in forests of Jharkhand. These are ensconced in a white circular border on which the name of the university and place are inscribed separated by a pair of laurels. All these are placed on a motif base of 24 green leaves. The laurels symbolise ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication and the leaves represent the geography and forests of the State of Jharkhand.

K. K. UNIVERSITY The K. K. University (KKU) was established under the Bihar Private Universities Act on June 8, 2017. The Samajik Kalyan Sanstha is the sponsor of the university. BHATTADEV UNIVERSITY Bhattadev University, Bajali, was established on June 24, 2019. The university was upgraded from the erstwhile Bajali College which was started in 1955 by the university was established by Bhattadev University Act, 2017. It is named after an illustrious son of Assam Baikunthanath Bhagavat Bhattacharya popularly known as Bhattadev, who is acknowledged as the father of Assamese prose. Bhattadev’s erudition in Sanskrit grammar and literature and his command over the Shrimadbhagavata Purana earned him the title of Bhagavat Bhattacharya. ALIPURDUAR UNIVERSITY Alipurduar University is the first state aided University of Alipurduar district which was inaugurated by Smt. Mamata Banerjee. The emblem of the university has a circle with yellow and cyan background carrying a plaque with an open book symbolising education, knowledge and wisdom and a rhinoceros representing the local ecology. It is supported by laurels of paddy crowns symbolising victory, achievement and success and topped by its name in Bengali and at the bottom with the year of its establishment. This circle with motifs is ensconced by a green toned border carrying the university’s name in English and Devanagari separated by twigs of tea leaves. ADICHUNCHANAGIRI UNIVERSITY The Adichunchanagiri University is situated in an unitary Campus of sixty seven acres at B.G. Nagara, Nagamangala Taluk of Mandya District, Karnataka. The emblem of the university is a shield with a tiara with red and violet border lines, has the acronym of its name written using a fancy serif font on a background of a globe. SATAVAHANA UNIVERSITY In June 2008, the Postgraduate Centre of Osmania and Kakatiya Universities were upgraded as Satavahana University. It is named after the Satavahana dynasty that ruled this region. The emblem is designed incorporating the inscriptions on various coins and objects of archeological importance found during the excavations carried out in the district, which represent the ancient culture of Karimnagar district. Most of them are representatives of the then prevalent Buddhist culture. The upper half of the column has six arms, representing the arrow, fish and hooks. This is taken from a coin found during excavations. Immediately over this, four crescents around a dot are found on a square block. SANT GADGE BABA AMRAVATI UNIVERSITY Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University (SGBAU) was established on Maharashtra Day, on May 1, 1983. The emblem of the university has a glowing red sun on a yellow circular background, cresrted by its motto in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ meaning ‘That which Liberates is Knowledge’ which forms part of a verse appearing in Vishnu-Purana (1.19.41) and supported by an open book bearing its year of establishment. It is ensconced in a yellow border which bears its name in English and Devanagari. A pair of floral laurels support this circular emblem. GUJARAT VIDYAPITH

GUJARAT VIDYAPITH Gujarat Vidyapith was founded by Mahatma Gandhi on October 18, 1920. Gujarat Vidyapith has been a deemed university since 1963. The emblem of the university is an open lotus flower. In it, in Devanagari script, is written ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ meaning ‘Knowledge is That which Liberates (us)’. In Arabic it is written ‘al hikamato zallatual monimine fahaiso uajedaha ahakko leha’. The banyan tree in the emblem signifies growth. There is also the moon that symbolises beauty, calmness and development. Lotus shows non-attachment and holy spirit and the lamps on either side in a circle symbolise knowledge. The university was established for the purpose of achieving independence. The object of political independence was temporary but the devotion for self-liberation and knowledge are its permanent ideals. This devotion should continue to grow like a banyan tree and moon with a spirit of non-attachment of a lotus.

BIRLA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

BIRLA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY The Birla Institute of Technology was established in 1955 at Mesra by B. M. Birla. Its emblem in red and grey colours has the structure of an atom supported by an open yellow book ensconced in a gear wheel placed in a red circle with grey border line. The red circle bears the name of the institute in Devanagari and English along with its motto in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ meaning ‘That which Liberates is Knowledge’ which forms part of a verse appearing in Vishnu-Purana (1.19.41). The atomic structure and the gear wheel represent the sciences and engineering fields of study respectively. The open book signifies knowledge and wisdom and the colour red passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration and the colour grey signifies strength, longevity, unemotional, detached, balanced and impartial, power, influence, wisdom and intelligence.

BANASTHALI VIDYAPITH Shri Shantabai Shiksha Kutir was started in October 1935 in the mud huts provided by the Jiwan Kutir, with six girls. The name ‘Banasthali Vidyapith’ was adopted in 1943 and undergraduate courses were introduced. The institution was granted the status of a deemed university in 1983 by the UGC. The blue circular emblem has the portrait of the founder’s daughter Shantabai with a halo holding a water pot amidst a fire. It is ensconced in a circular border which carries its name, year of establishment and its motto in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ meaning ‘That which Liberates is Knowledge’ which forms part of a verse appearing in Vishnu-Purana (1.19.41). UNIVERSITY OF HYDERABAD The University of Hyderabad (Hydarāvād visvavidyālayamu) is a top ranking public Central research university located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Founded in 1974, this mostly residential campus has more than five thousand students and four hundred faculty, from several disciplines. It has a red circular emblem supported by a banner. The emblem has motifs of an atom and energy depicted on an open book and nuclear energy and its radiation ensconced in a circle. These are circumscribed by a banner above by its name.
