KERALA UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES The circular emblem of the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) in the yellow ochre and brown has a mother and child held by a supporting palm with a traditional lamp placed at the bottom and circumscribed by its name. These are supported by its motto in Sanskrit ‘सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः’ (2.35.51, Garuda Purana) meaning ‘May All be Prosperous, May All be free from infirmities’ and an open book symbolising education, knowledge and wisdom. The traditional lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity and the palm holding the mother and child symbolises care, nourishment, support and protection.

KERALA AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY The Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) emblem symbolises the emergence of life forms. It depicts a healthy bud with eleven leaves growing from a seed in a test tube placed in a decorative pot. The seed represents knowledge and the soil in the test tube represents science and technology. The bud produces plants and animals for human sustenance. The name of the university circumscribes the bud and at the bottom on a panel a pig, a goat and a cattle are shown.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY CALICUT Set in a picturesque landscape at the foothills of the Western Ghats, National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) is located about 22 kilometres north-east of Calicut City. NITC is a Technical Institution of national importance set up by an Act of parliament (Act 29 of 2007). NITC’s emblem has a sixteen toothed gear wheel in which a traditional lamp from Kerala is placed around which three orbital lines of particles are drawn. The name and place of the institute is written on the border of the gear wheel. At the bottom, on a banner its motto ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ is written in Sanskrit meaning ‘From Darkness to Light’.

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY,  KOTTAYAM Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kottayam (IIITK) at Valavoor, Pala, Kerala is one among the IIITs that have been established as "Institutions of National Importance" by Ministry of Education, Govt. of India under the ambit of IIIT (PPP) Act 2017. IIITK was founded in 2015. It is spread over in 53 acres of land allotted by Govt. of Kerala in the southern part of the state. The investment for this institution was made by Government of India, Government of Kerala and industry partner in the ratio of 50:35:15, Its predominantly green square emblem has winding paths in blue. CHERA DYNASTY

CHERA DYNASTY The  Chera Dynasty was one of the Tamil Dynasties in and before the  Sangam period  history of the state of  Kerala  and the  Kongu Nadu  region of Western  Tamil Nadu  in southern India. Together with the Tamil dynasties of  Cholas of Uraiyur (Tiruchirappalli)  and the  Pandyas of Madurai , the early Cheras were known as one of the  three major powers (muvendar)  of ancient  Tamizhagam i n the early centuries of the Common Era. Bow and arrow is the symbol of Chera dynasty and this is found in many of the archaeological findings and literary records. Nedum Cheralathan was a Chera ruler of the early historic south India, contemporary to the Chola ruler Perunarkilli. He is the second known Chera ruler from the early Tamil literature, and is praised in the Second Ten of Pathitruppaththu. KOCHI METRO RAIL LIMITED The Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) was started in August 2, 2011 with the objective to make Kochi the first city in India, where the entire public transport system: the metro, the buses, the boats, the autorickshaws and the taxis work together as a seamless integrated system; with a common timetable, common ticketing and centralised command and control. is a joint venture company with equal equity contribution of Government of India and Government of Kerala. KMRL’s emblem designed by Tata Elxsi and Brash Brands is a contemporary one with bold geometrical strokes of broad intersecting lines mimicking multi modal transport networks. RAJIV GANDHI CENTRE FOR BIOTECHNOLOGY The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, RGCB began in 1990 as a charitable society called the Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (C-DEST). In 1991, recognizing its potential, the C-DEST was made a ‘Grant-in-Aid’ institute of the Government of Kerala and renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (RGC-DEST), becoming the first institute in the country to be named after Sri Rajiv Gandhi. On April 18, 1994 the Government of Kerala restructured the institute into a comprehensive biotechnology centre and it became Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology. The institute was first managed by the Government of Kerala's Committee for Science and Technology and Environment (STEC) and subsequently by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment. KERALA POLICE The coat of arms of the Keral Police has a trumpeting elephant in front of a coconut tree encircled by lettering ‘Kerala Police’ in English in and two branches of laurel in chief a gold bordure. The circle is bifurcated on each side within the border with a conch shell. EMBLEM OF KERALA The state emblem of Kerala is derived from the traditional Travancore state emblem, the conch-shell Sri Padmanhnabha Shanka is surrounded by a garland. The two elephants guarding the state and national insignias and is a derivative of Royal Coat of Arms of Kingdom of Travancore. The elephant denotes the supremacy and power and the state has the largest number of captivated elephants. The central part of the emblem carries Sree Padmanabha's Shankhu. The Shanku was one of the most iconic emblems found throughout Kerala's history and was the official insignia of Sree Ananthapadmanabha Swamy- the National deity and emperor of Erstwhile Travancore over which India's national emblem is found.
