ALAGAPPA UNIVERSITY Alagappa University is located at Karaikudi in Tamil Nadu. It was founded by the great philanthropist and educationist Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar during the 1950s. Alagappa University came into existence by a Special Act of the Government of Tamil Nadu in May 1985 and is recognized by the University Grants Commission of India. The emblem of the university has a blue shield holding a lotus and a traditional lamp in a red circular background, supported by yellow ornamental decoration. The name of the university is written in Tamil and English above the shield. Below the shield on a blue banner, its motto in Tamil ‘செயலில் செம்மை’ meaning ‘Excellence in Action’ is written.
