It includes desert, the sea, the hills and the flamingos which are migratory birds. The blue sky suggests infiniteness and eternity. The hills stand for strength and determination. The desert symbolises the tough conditions and the challenge to life, consequently the resilience of the people of Kachchh. COTTON UNIVERSITY Cotton University (CU) was formerly known as Cotton College, the institute was established in 1901 by Sir Henry Stedman Cotton, the Chief Commissioner of the erstwhile British province of Assam. It became a constituent college of Gauhati University in 1948. In 2011 the Cotton College State University was established vide an Act of the Government of Assam, with the college as a constituent. Cotton University came into being in 2017 through The Cotton University Act, 2017 that enabled the unification of Cotton College State University and Cotton College. The official emblem of the university dates back to 1933. It was designed by Mohendra Nath Deka Phukan, an alumni of the university. This emblem is a shield which is a symbol of protection of Assam. TUMKUR UNIVERSITY Tumkur University was established in the year 2004, as a State University, to cater to the educational needs of Tumakuru district where the majority of students hail from the rural areas. The emblem of the university has a blue circular border and is supported by a brown coloured banner. The border carries the name of the university in Kannada and English, its year of establishment and a structure of an atom. Within the circle motifs of a hill, coconut trees in green colour, a folk drum, a traditional lamp and a hand holding a bunch of vegetables. The banner is inscribed with its motto in Kannada ‘ಜ್ಞಾನವೇ ಅನಂತ’ and in English ‘Knowledge is Eternal’. The hill, coconut trees, drum and the bunch of vegetables are representative of the district’s geography and the traditional lamp signifies light, path for growth and way forward.
