HEMCHAND YADAV VISHWAVIDYALAYA The emblem of Hemchand Yadav Vishwavidyalaya (HYV) has a twelve petalled circular spread of lotus, houses a blue circular border, which is inscribed with the name and place of the university in Devanagari and English. The yellow circle inside the border houses the motifs of a Shivling supported by a pair of leaves of Aegle marmelos or bilva supporting a nib of a pen with a glowing tip and its year of inception. Below the Shivling its motto in Sanskrit ‘ऋते जगतु न मुक्तिः’ (Verse 15, Rasahrdaya Tantra, Govinda Bhagavatpada) meaning 'Knowledge Alone Does Not Lead to Liberation’ meaning is inscribed. SHRI DHARMASTHALA MANJUNATHESHWARA UNIVERSITY Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University (SDMU), Dharwad has been established under the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University Act 20I8. The university has been sponsored by the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Education (SDME) SocietyThe emblem of the university has a brown Shivling with Tripundra supported by a blue toned banner with huge wings, on which its motto ‘Truth Liberates’ is written. Shivling is a Hindu religious symbol which represents Lord Shiva as the power of all existence, generation, creativity and fertility at cosmic level; the Tripundra, three horizontal lines on the forehead symbolise will, knowledge and action and the wings represent the motto visually and metaphorically of the liberation achieved through knowledge and wisdom.

SUNRISE UNIVERSITY Sun Rise University (SRU) was established  in the year 2011 by the Sunrise Integrated Educational Trust in the state of Rajasthan by the Rajasthan Private Universities Act No. 25, 2011. The emblem of the university is a shield divided in orange and green halves horizontally, with three vertical strokes in white on both the sides. The top orange portion has a gear wheel with a radiating Shivling supported by an open book inside. The green portion has the name and place of the university written on it. SHIVA LINGAM SHIVLING The Shiva Linga or Lingam is a symbol that represents Lord Shiva in Hinduism. As the most powerful of deities, temples are built in his honour that includes a Shiva Linga, representing all the energies of the world and beyond. In Sanskrit, Linga means a ‘mark’ or a symbol, which points to an inference. Thus the Shiva Linga is a symbol of Lord Shiva: a mark that reminds of the Omnipotent Lord, which is formless. The ancient Hindu scripture ‘Linga Purana’ says that the foremost Linga is devoid of smell, colour, taste, etc. and is spoken of as Prakriti, or Nature itself. In the post-Vedic period, the Linga became symbolic of the generative power of Lord Shiva. The Linga is like an egg and represents the Brahmanda (the cosmic egg). Linga signifies that the creation is affected by the union of Prakriti and Purusha, the male and the female powers of Nature.
