DR. A.P.J. ABDUL KALAM TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY The circular seal of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) in the form of a brown gear wheel houses the motifs of glowing flame of a traditional lamp supported on side by a pair of fish and surmounted by its motto in Sanskrit ‘योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्’ (Verse 50, Chapter 2, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Yoga is Skill in Action’ on a blue circle. This is circumscribed by a green border which carries the name of the university. The wheel of gear denotes interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure; the traditional lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity and the pair of fish denoting the State of Uttar Pradesh.

ALAGAPPA UNIVERSITY Alagappa University is located at Karaikudi in Tamil Nadu. It was founded by the great philanthropist and educationist Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar during the 1950s. Alagappa University came into existence by a Special Act of the Government of Tamil Nadu in May 1985 and is recognized by the University Grants Commission of India. The emblem of the university has a blue shield holding a lotus and a traditional lamp in a red circular background, supported by yellow ornamental decoration. The name of the university is written in Tamil and English above the shield. Below the shield on a blue banner, its motto in Tamil ‘செயலில் செம்மை’ meaning ‘Excellence in Action’ is written. INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT RAIPUR Indian Institute of Management (IIM) was set up by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2010 at Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. The aureole of IIM Raipur’s logo depicts the traditional Bastar Dhokra art (Sun handicraft made out of metal) of tribal Chhattisgarh that involves precision, practice and skill. Being a State of adivasis, the sun is also considered to be sacred and supreme by them. The colours used in the entire design are burgundy and black. While the burgundy stands for boldness, creativity and wisdom; black signifies balance. The typeface used here is Montserrat indicating uniqueness, simplicity and leadership. VISVESVARAYA NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY,  NAGPUR Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur is one of the thirty National Institutes of Technology in the country. The Government of India conferred on the Institute, the Deemed to be University status (under University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956)) from June 26, 2002. Earlier, the Institute was known as Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering (VRCE) which was established in the year 1960. Its circular emblem is divided into four quarters, with a torch held by a hand in the middle. The first quadrant has a pair of meshing gears, the second has a book, the third has a bridge on a river and the fourth has an electricity transmission tower. The name and place of the institute is inscribed along the border of the circle. A banner at the bottom has its motto in Sanskrit ‘योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्’ meaning ‘Yoga is Skill in Actions’ is written.

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY KHARAGPUR With the recommendations of the Sarkar committee in view, the first Indian Institute of Technology was born in May 1950 in Hijli, Kharagpur, in the eastern part of India. Initially the IIT started functioning from 5, Esplanade East, Calcutta and very soon shifted to Hijli in September 1950. The present name 'Indian Institute of Technology' was adopted before the formal inauguration of the Institute on August 18, 1951. IIT Kharagpur started its journey in the old Hijli Detention Camp where some of our great freedom fighters toiled and sacrificed their lives for the independence of our country. Its emblem in blue colour has a tree rooted to a book, where the year of its foundation is written, referring to growth through knowledge. Its name in Devanagari is written around the tree. It is ensconced by a segment of gear which bears the name of the institution in English. Below these on a trapezoidal panel its motto ‘योगः
