The CMJ Group headed by Mr. C.M. Jha decided to set up one of the first private universities in Meghalaya. The CMJ University (CMJU) came into being in 2009 by an Act of Meghalaya State Legislature under the CMJ University Act 4 of 2009. The university is situated on a 40 acre campus on a hillock in Jorabat on picturesque hills. The emblem of the university is green colour shield on which an interesting symmetrical designs have been drawn and on the top ‘AIM’ is written and in the middle ‘ऐं’ is written. The shield symbolises protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the ‘AIM’ and ‘ऐं, denotes ambition, motto and target; the colour green denotes agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.

MANKOLAM Mankolam, the abstract image of mango and the paisley design is shaped like a mango and associated with Lord Ganesha. Mangos are the sweetest of fruits, symbolizing auspiciousness and the happy fulfillment of legitimate worldly desires. In Sanskrit the design is known as mankolam and has long been used in India. In Tamil, ‘ma’ means Mango and kolam means rangoli pattern, suggesting a possible Tamil origin for the Sanskrit word.

PARAVANI The Paravani, Mayil, Mayura or the peacock is the vahana or vehicle of the Lord Karthikeya, Murugan, Subrahmanya, Skanda, Kumara, Saravana, Arumukha, Devasenapati, Shanmukha, Kathirvela, Guha or Swaminatha. The legend has it that the demon king Surapadman, with the boon he received from the gods had become invincible. He believed that he was immortal and began tormenting all across the universe. Lord Kartikeya confronted the Surapadman and he evaded the Lord’s attacks. The demon transformed himself into a large tree near Tiruchendur. Lord Kartikeya using his Vel, the divine spear struck the tree and split Surapadman into two halves. The demon sought forgiveness from the Lord and transformed the halves into Mayil or peacock and a rooster. KAVIKULAGURU KALIDAS SANSKRIT UNIVERSITY Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (KKSU) was established on September 18, 1997. It is named to pay rich tribute to legendary Sanskrit Mahakavi Kalidas. The logo of university has the ‘samai’ that is the lamp in the centre symbolising that Sanskrit is like the lamp that is mild yet powerfully showing the path of knowledge though its peculiar qualities like calmness, sacredness and guiding force. Books are the representation of the treasure of Sanskrit language. These sciences are symbolised as petals of a flower. The tagline ‘राष्ट्रहिताय संकृत्म्म्’ is the basis of the logo. It puts forward the intention of being a nation lover at the same time being a world citizen by constantly contributing to nation building. Two lotus buds surround the slogan represent the students and learners who are keen on learning the language. (NMC Bank) has a green gear wheel housing the motifs of a two-pan beam balance and a factory surmounted bits name and place in Devanagari and supported by a pair of crests of cereal.
