THE MURUGAPPA GROUP

The Murugappa Group began in 1900 as a banking enterprise in the pre - World War 1 era in Burma (Myanmar). Shifting to India war years, the Group established its base in the South. Today, it is a multi billion conglomerate headquartered in Chennai. The major Companies of the Group include Carborundum Universal Ltd., CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd., Cholamandalam Financial Holdings Ltd., Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Ltd., Cholamandalam MS General Insurance Company Ltd., Coromandel International Ltd., Coromandel Engineering Company Ltd., E.I.D. The Group holds leadership positions in several product lines including abrasives, technical ceramics, electro minerals, auto components and systems, bicycles, fertilisers, sugar, tea and spirulina (nutraceuticals). Renowned brands like BSA, Hercules, Montra, Mach City, Ballmaster, Ajax, Parry’s, Chola, Gromor, Shanthi Gears and Paramfos are from the Murugappa stable. The group’s emblem is in red colour and is made up of a multiple number of ‘M’s make up a dancing peacock supported by its name ‘Murugappa’ in curvy sans serif letters.
