TUMKUR UNIVERSITY

Tumkur University was established in the year 2004, as a State University, to cater to the educational needs of Tumakuru district where the majority of students hail from the rural areas. The emblem of the university has a blue circular border and is supported by a brown coloured banner. The border carries the name of the university in Kannada and English, its year of establishment and a structure of an atom. Within the circle motifs of a hill, coconut trees in green colour, a folk drum, a traditional lamp and a hand holding a bunch of vegetables. The banner is inscribed with its motto in Kannada ‘ಜ್ಞಾನವೇ ಅನಂತ’ and in English ‘Knowledge is Eternal’. The hill, coconut trees, drum and the bunch of vegetables are representative of the district’s geography and the traditional lamp signifies light, path for growth and way forward.
