National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) is a Technical Institution of national importance set up by an Act of parliament (Act 29 of 2007). NITC’s emblem has a sixteen toothed gear wheel in which a traditional lamp from Kerala is placed around which three orbital lines of particles are drawn. The name and place of the institute is written on the border of the gear wheel. At the bottom, on a banner its motto ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ is written in Sanskrit meaning ‘From Darkness to Light’.

The lamp is inscribed with the year of establishment of the college, the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘बुद्धिर्ज्ञानेन शुद्ध्यति’ ((Shloka 109, Adhyay 5, Manu Smriti) and (Shloka 72, Adhyaya 46 , Uttara Ardha , Kashi Khanda , Skanda Purana)), which translates to ‘Intellect is Cleansed by Knowledge’ and the initials of the college ‘G.D.C. CHENNAI ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE (CASC) The emblem of Chennai Arts and Science College (CASC) features a yellow shield with green outlines inscribed with the monogram of the initials of ‘CASC’ depicting a diagram of an atom. The shield is ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college. The seal is supported on the sides by a pair of laurels and an open book at the bottom. Below these, the motto of the college ‘Passion Perseverance Excellence’ is inscribed on a golden banner. PALLAVA DYNASTY - BULL The Pallava Dynasty existed from 275 CE to 897 CE, ruling a significant portion of the Deccan, also known as Thondaimandalam. The dynasty rose to prominence after the downfall of the Satavahana dynasty, with whom they had formerly served as feudatories. The Pallavas became a major South Indian power during the reign of Mahendravarman I(600–630 CE) and Narasimhavarman I (630–668 CE), dominating for about 600 years, until the end of the 9th century. Kancheepuram served as the capital of the Pallava kingdom.  They developed the Pallava script, from which, Grantha ultimately took form. This script eventually gave rise to several other Southeast Asian scripts such Khmer. The Chinese traveller Xuanzang visited Kanchipuram during Pallava rule and extolled their benign rule. DESH BHAGAT UNIVERSITY The orange and blue emblem of Desh Bhagat University (DBU) has a nib of a pen divided into three vertical parts denoting research, innovation and entrepreneurship, with its acronym ‘DBU’ written on it. An orange flame is placed above the nib and its year of inception is placed below the nib. Its name is written in blue on its right and below this its motto is written in orange. ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY Aligarh Muslim University grew out of the work of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. Raja Jai Kishan helped Sir Syed in establishing the university. The British decision to replace the use of Persian in 1842 for government employment and as the language of Courts of Law caused deep anxiety among Muslims of the sub-continent. His purpose for the establishment of the Scientific Society in 1864, in Aligarh. Sir Syed's son, Syed Mahmood, who was an alumnus of Cambridge prepared a proposal for an independent university to the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College Fund Committee upon his return from England in 1872. Syed Mahmood continued to work along with his father in founding the college. By 1920 the college was transformed into the Aligarh Muslim University.
