The greenish emblem of Gondwana University (GU) has a green shield with a silver border houses the motifs of an archway representing architecture of the place, an open book, a pair of laurels, its name and place in Devanagari and its motto in Sanskrit ‘ज्ञाना देव तु कैवल्यम्’ meaning ‘Knowledge Alone Liberates’. Below the shield, on a yellow border the name of the university is write.The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the laurels denote ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication and the colour green denotes agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.
